eBay's Earnings a Successful Bid for Market Leadership [View article]
Time will tell as eBay puts forth more changes that hurt, handicap and alienate the small sellers that are still leaving for alternative sites. The question is can they survive if the auction core collapses? How long will Paypal stand tall with folks like Google building their checkout up? It will be interesting.
eBay's Ticker Might Be 'PYPL' in Three Years [View article]
eBay is going down but Paypal going up because all the small sellers such as us have left or are in the process of leaving eBay but we still accept Paypal on our new alternative sites. Nice thing about the alternative sites is WE CAN CHOOSE what type of payment to accept. Nobody dictates how we run our businesses like eBay does.
eBay: Out with the New, In with the Old [View article]
Wow! How can I add anything to all those great posts above. I heartily agree with 99.9% of what has been posted.
The only thing I will add is I wish the fees equated to 13%. Our overhead selling there is 23-25%!! That is why our inventory on feebay is shrinking fast as we can afford it and growing on Bonanzle.
eBay: Where It Stands, Where It Should Be Headed [View article]
We are 10 plus yr sellers on eBay with 7 of them being fulltime. Our overhead on eBay is about the same 25% as mentioned above. My overhead on Bonanzle so far in this early running will be 10% or less. No listing fees, No DSR, Nobody telling us how to run our business and fun the way it used to be. This Will be their competitor. The growth is steady and the management responsive like they should be. And people Buy!
eBay Listens to Customers, Retires Old Search Engine [View article]
If eBay would listen they would not be retiring the "old technology". Everyone uses best match because eBay forces the change and you have had to opt out of the 'new search' if you want to stay using the old search. Just another way they have shot themselves in the foot.
Amazon vs. eBay: The Giants of E-Commerce Duke It Out [View article]
e Who?? eBay going down the tubes slowly but surely and upstart www.bonanzle.com growing by leaps and bounds (over 1m listings in 6 mo and growing 500-1,000 users/day) with no listing fees, transparent management that caters to the sellers. I could go on and on. It is going to be the David vs. Goliath story. Go Bonanzle!
Donahoe did it himself with all his inane changes. First we (small sellers) can't leave a negative feedback for a non-paying bidder, then they tell us how much we can charge for shipping and now they tell us what type of payments we can accept. We have over 10 yrs eBay experience with 7 of them fulltime selling auction style and a near 100% feedback rating on over 14000 successful auctions. We are over halfway through our process of moving inventory OFF eBay and like hundreds of other PowerSellers have migrated to Bonanzle.com. It is everything eBay used to be including Fun!
Where Is the Puck Going to Be in 2009? [View article]
My puck is hanging with Bob C. over at Bonanzle.com. It is by far the fastest growing alternative. It has the transparency that others have never seen. The Bonanzle wave is growing. There is 3 times the number of buyers vs. sellers and 3 times less cost than eBay.
Is eBay's Real Threat Amazon or Classifieds, or Both? [View article]
eBay is their own threat! Unless the draconian policy changes of the last few years are reversed or modified to be fair to the small sellers such as us the exodus will continue and they will continue to leave for alternative sites that are seller friendly.
E-Commerce Battle: Amazon and eBay on Deck [View article]
eBay will continue going downhill as long as they treat the small sellers like cannon fodder. Those like us who are tired of the inane rules and price increases have left or are working on leaving. Now eBay's new changes just announced do nothing to improve the situation and may in fact hurt it if the feedback change that is rumored comes true - no feedback rating for diamond powersellers. They want to hide the horrid feedback that the large sellers have so more people will buy from them.
Oh well eBay's loss is Bonanzles gain! Bonanzle.com should breat 50,000 users within a day or 2 and within a week or 2 it will be the 3rd largest auction site surpassing ecrater. And it is all due to folks that eBay has driven away. These are the folks like us that were there on eBay back in the 90's when they couldn't keep the site up because of the rapid growth such as Bonanzle is enjoying now. eCommerce is fun, affordable and profitable again on Bonanzle!
When are we going to see the lawsuit against eBay for restricting the types of payments accepted? And folks wonder why sellers are leaving the bay in droves and heading to safer, friendlier and a much more fun venue that is only a venue and not a dictatorship. Come see the bright new day at Bonanzle.com!
Overhead to sell on eBay was an average of 23% a month for us in 2008. That is compared to 10% in 2001. The numbers speak for themselves and that is why small sellers like ourselves are leaving by the dozen to the alternative sites that have started in the last year. On Bonanzle our 3 boothes are quickly growing in sales and by the end of 2009 if growth stays on the track, we predict they will equal our sales on eBay and then eBay will be a thing of the past for another 10+ yr veteran with over 15,000 successful auctions over those years. Their loss! Join us in the modern day David vs Goliath. It's gonna be fun!
Hey Donahoe! Wake up!! It is the 'swap meet' mentality that built the former giant eBay. People like swapmeets! If you doubt it just go to your local one and ask some folks.
Bonanzle.com is our new swap meet and people love it!!! Join us there.
Some Advice for Business-Challenged eBay [View article]
I echo what Wake Up! said. Bonanzle is like eBay was 10 years ago. Remember that folks? It was fun! There is transparency by mgmt...heck the founder even blogs and sells! Support is just that....I sent an email to support and received a correct friendly answer within 2 hours.
The site is growing by about 250 users a day as the wave gains momentum. Buyers are out numbering sellers approx. 3-1.
