  • 8 Ways to Make Sirius Better [View article]
I actually assumed (long ago when I first started looking at satrad for my car/home) that the radios were cheap/free, like a cel phone plan. I was a bit surprised that some of the radios were $200+!

Some call it the Gillette business model. Give the damn hardware away for free or next to nothing and make the $$ on the subs. Come up with a revenue share plan for the radio manufacturers based on the subs that come in from that radio “purchase”. Lastly, this could also lead to manufacturers advertising and hawking satrad equipment because they would ultimately benefit from the subs.

I know the radios that come in new cars are worked into the purchase price, so that model is kind of in place. But, this may be something to consider to tap the market of people (read: LOTS) that aren’t buying a new car anytime soon.

I think putting all their eggs in one basket by using the automotive tie-in as the last great hope is a mistake. Diversify, think outside the box, whatever you want to call it, creative marketing is the only way many companies will survive in these times. Just look at Hyundai, with their “if you lose your job, we’ll take the car back”. That’s innovative thinking!

    Just FYI all:

AT&T has partnered up with RaySat to deliver 22 high quality video and 20 audio channels to the back seat of cars. They have launched a working preview of their services at SEMA 2008 with a consumer delivery promise set for sprint of 2009. Anticipated monthly services fees are $28.00.

This is not the holly grail of a connected car, but AT&T has done a lot of hard work here that no other company has released yet.

They have a relativity small Antenna
They have about a minute of data caching 'baked in' to allow for driving through parking garages short tunnels and other structures.
They have a commited shipping date

Some juicy content deals appear to be done:

“Disney Channel, Toon Disney, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network Mobile, USA, COMEDY CENTRAL, MSNBC, CNN Mobile Live and CNBC. Twenty satellite radio music channels will also be available at the launch.”

Just curious, isn't there a rule that says if a stock stays below a certain amount for a certain period of time it gets delisted from the stock exchange?

If that is the case, is there a chance SIRI will get delisted, and if so, what happens then?
