  • Bing Is Off to a Very Good Start [View article]
    I am very impressed with Bing.

    Off late the Google search has been providing search results that probably pay them instead of search relevance. In the last couple of days I have been comparing Bing and Google, I am seeing Bing results to be more pertinent and useful than Google. I also like the Bing screen background better than Google.

    One successful business strategy for NYT is DNC buying NYT. It can be the official publication for DNC with other potpourri of elite bicoastal topics. At least the liberals will en mass subscribe to it..

    Investing in NYT as a sustainable business model is ludicrous. It is analogous to saying invest in horse carriages when model T is being rolled out. There may be some short term trading opportunities, but NYT has no future.

    The familiar arguments based on traditional factors such as economy, cost management and so on are nothing but smoke & mirror. Sane money would not touch NYT with a 10 foot pole. Any investment can only be based on dogma and nostalgia.

    GOOG is no one trick pony. They pretty much cover the broadcast market. The new paradigm of broadcast media is internet not terrestrial. With strong presence in Internet, video (you tube) and voice (Google voice) they are leading the transformation that is in the cusp of taking of. Also, as cloud computing gets more traction they stand to gain.

    Not only have they declared war they have the moral code and the arsenals to win. The technology to deliver cloud computing exists today. Google is not constrained like legacy tech companies who have to protect their current revenue stream. Google can bulldoze its offering and transform the industry to true utility computing leaving few tech carcasses on the way side.
