  • Good News for Transports: Well Played, Mr. Buffett [View article]
"If one wants to draw a conspiracy theory to all of this, they could very easily. After all, Mr. Buffet is very close to the Obama administration and he did invest heavily last year knowing things were very bad, worse than he let on. He also did this on the day that the transports were about to melt down as well, so, as I said, one could very easily draw conspiracy theories from this purchase."

Also, in addition to what Tony P. said, if he were sure of the coming 'meltdown', why wouldn't he postpone his purchase for a few weeks and save tens of millions? The 'theory' that he's basing his purchase to save a potential breakdown of the transports is truly ridiculous. Buffett doesn't even believe in technicals...

  • Buffett and Burlington: Betting on Growth [View article]
You're downsizing the importance of all the land BNI possesses. You'd have to know the exact value of said land in order to affirm this is exclusively a bet on growth and not value...

I'm guessing Buffett is way more capable than the author of figuring this out, and indeed, it appears that he has.

  • How Apple's Market Share Will Propel Stock to $500, Part 1 [View article]
Right now, I think as far as consumers go, Apple has a lot more than 3% share in the US... A big portion of those alleged 97% figures for Microsoft (where's Linux/Unix, btw?) are in machines for businesses, which *are* prone to cut spending right now.

  • How Apple's Market Share Will Propel Stock to $500, Part 1 [View article]
This is getting ridiculous. As much of an Apple fan I am, I cannot envision Apple expanding their market share enough to justify a $500 price tag on the stock and a market valuation of over half a trillion dollars (let's assume for a second that we mean $500 in today's dollars)

Don't you think that an extremely large increase in their user base wouldn't require a drop in prices? I really like Apple Macs and despite the fact that I view the premium paid as totally worth it, some people cannot and never will get beyond the higher price tag.

  • Now We're Really Due for a Pullback [View article]
"Would be even better to see Doug Kass bullish, but I don't think so."

Alex, isn't Doug Kass a contrarian by nature? I don't think he'd jump on the bullish camp with everyone else. Isn't being contrarian of a contrarian just following the herd?

Great article. I'm from Argentina so I'm following the situation closely.

Quick editing note, though: the article's first two paragraphs are repeated again as the last two.

"Ever since the Reagan administration tamed inflation in the early 1980’s, the Federal Reserve has done a wonderful job of controlling it. "

I stopped reading right there. Apparently someone thinks the govt CPI numbers are anything other than bullsh*t.

  • Cramer's Lightning Round - BAC Is Back (7/27/09) [View article]
Cramer is a joke. This is the same guy who, back in April, said he didn't like Apple at $125 because he felt it was overpriced. Now he loves it at $160.

    What a crock of sh*t!

  • The Treasury's Pump and Dump Scheme for Bank Stocks [View article]
Buffet never said he'd put his entire net worth in Wells Fargo, period. He said he'd be willing to do that when the common for Wells was at $9.

You're implying Buffet is continuing to pump Wells, when in reality what he said was a whole lot different. And the market seems to agree with him, at least for the time being...

  • Bear Market Rally: Hoping Cramer's Not the Ultimate Contrarian Indicator [View article]
I agree with the author's point of view. However, with Cramer having done so many calls on the overall market, one of them is bound to be eventually right, don't you think?

One might also recall Templeton's famous quote: "Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on skepticism, mature on optimism and die on euphoria". I'd say this rally is overdone, but with so many folks skeptical of it, I might not dare to short it either...
