Motorola's Droid Comes in Peace - For Now [View article]
and don't forget the Apple stores! the rest of the mall can be dead, including all the phone company stores, but the Apple store is always hopping and product is always heading out the door. there's no more profitable retail space anywhere...and in this economy!
Apple will not sit still. There are amazing things in the pipeline. And there will be a line for them.

i'm always happy when Apple has competition because i love Apple and i want them to keep doing what they do better than anyone...innovate. I enjoyed the article. thanks.
Congratulations to Apple's Steve Jobs, Fortune's CEO of the Decade [View article]
great article! Jobs really did earn it... but he did something else that those of us who hold the stock will be grateful for later... he built a company so good, brought in so many brilliant minds, made the company so financially secure, that eventually it will do just fine without him... a Disney without Walt, a Chanel without Coco. Thanks, Steve! we owe you!
good article. there's a segment of the investing public that more resembles a carnival side show than anything else. yes, it's important to invest in companies that aren't out of touch with either the future or reality, but it's equally important to invest in companies that have no debt and have the ability to ride the waves. day trading or whatever you name it, is true gambling. gambling can, for some, be enjoyable, but you better be able to cover the loses. We saw what happened to real estate gamblers who couldn't. And then we all payed off the markers. thanks for a good article.

yes, i agree. RIM will suffer from competition, not Apple.. the same is true for Palm. And buying back stock instead of putting that $$$ into R&D is just foolish. The name of the game in tech is innovation...and more innovation...fast and good. That takes money and the determination to do it. Apple has it for sure, which is why it keeps growing market share. Taking a long time to design something is ok when it's sheets...but not when it's tech.
How Apple's Market Share Will Propel Stock to $500, Part 2 [View article]
Great article, Jason. And Fortune has named Jobs the CEO of the decade. He's created such a strong, smart company that it will even make it without him when the inevitable happens. There are amazingly brilliant people at Apple these days, in all sectors of the business. Just as Walt Disney remains the spirit of Disney, so will Steve Jobs remain the spirit of Apple. There are people of such genius that whatever they build seems to take hold and endure. The stock will continue to do well and we'll be lucky to be able to buy in on the dips at this point. I can't guess the stock price eventually, but i'm as sure as one can be about any company...that Apple will be here in 2020, when some will not be. long APPL
Does Steve Jobs Deserve Fortune's "CEO of the Decade" Award? [View article]
i think the first part of the article is great...but the last part misses the most important fact: Jobs has created a company and built a staff that is so sound and brilliant, that Apple will survive without him. That doesn't mean he's replaceable per se...he's a one time creation...but there are amazing people at Apple today, drawn there by him. He's assembled a team that is in a class by itself. Would they miss him?...of course. But the future of the company is not in doubt. One of Apple's best qualities is that it sees what's coming...and creates it now. That won't stop. Kudos to Jobs for this honor. He deserves it indeed. long APPL

Blackberries continue to do well because a lot of industries give them to staff who have no choice in the matter. As younger people enter the workforce, this will change. the iPhone is really a pocket computer as intuitive as a Mac. Competition is good for the marketplace, but Apple will be here in 2020 and i'm not sure about some of the other companies. Some just coasted for too long and now they have to try and catch up. But Apple innovates better and faster than anyone, so it's going to be very interesting. long APPL
AT&T Sues Verizon Over 'Misleading' Map Ad [View article]
the maps don't bother international travelers who can use their iPhone abroad. i left Verizon with some trepidation in order to have the iPhone and last year there were dropped calls, but that is not the case now. ATT has a lot of increased revenue and they are beefing up the system, which needed it. but i do think other phone makers may do better on Verizon, at least until ATT catches up.
Apple's App Store Numbers Continue to Amaze [View article]
I had wanted an iPhone so i could just carry one device what was a phone and an iPod... i never thought i'd play games on it or read books, or use it for navigation, or even surf the web in such a small format... but i do, constantly... and now i 'also use it as a phone':).
Apple Hits 100,000 iPhone Apps: Is the Choice Worth the Cost? [View article]
you can say anything you want about the app store having some apps that aren't great...but all the apps are organized well and it's quite easy to find those that are wonderful and make the iPhone such an integrated part of peoples' lives, very quickly. some don't seem like much to a person who has no use for it...like the app that's a level. but if you design exhibits like i do, it's very nice to have a level in your pocket. and while i'm waiting around for installers, i can play one of 40 games i have on my iPhone or read one of 20 books. (or listen to one) Having more of a selection of apps is never a bad thing and i don't see how having such a wonderful selection can be a downside!
Apples to Apples: Will History Repeat Itself as Android Gains on the iPhone? [View article]
bottom line...Apple innovates better and faster than anyone and they have the $$$ to do it. this company will still be here in 2020...will the others? It's not a fad when your product has the highest customer experience rating on the planet, no matter who conducts the survey! When you go to a mall with an Apple store, look around. The other stores are dead...Apple is buzzing with sales and excitement. It's not the hype, it's the stuff which feels and works intuitively (and easily) like nothing else does. The app store makes the iPhone an all in one computer that fits in your pocket.
Not Everyone in China Wants to Buy an iPhone [View article]
and Apple will be able to sell wifi iPhones in a little while, so that could also make a difference. i didn't buy the first iPhone because i was locked into a contract with another carrier...that happened to a lot of us and there will be some like that in China. Apple isn't just sitting around figuring things will be ok... they'll do what they have to do to keep increasing market share worldwide. and i'll bet Palm wishes they had this same situation!

i fly Southwest as much as possible just because i know they treat their employees better. I like knowing that the people flying the plane and doing the other jobs actually like their job and the company and are fairly compensated for their work.
yes, computers can fly the plane in some circumstances...but you'd better have a smart, experienced human around when the link goes down or something strange starts happening. And it better be someone who feels some loyalty to the company and the safety of the passengers so they won't be playing the equivalent of 'dungeons and dragons' in the cockpit! a decent salary is one way to make responsible piloting more likely.
Is Apple's Stock Headed for a Reversal? [View article]
i think your title was misleading, in an otherwise good article, which doesn't read like the title. The Title reads like you think Apple will fall apart, which i don't think you mean. even really great stocks have some ups and downs and some doldrums and unless you buy and hold (i do) then it's a gambler's game to try and figure out when to move in and out. i just look for dips so i can buy in cheaper. there's no way to put a cap on Apple's market share for any of it's products, since it's an international company now and just into China nov. 1 with the iPhone. Because it's market share is low in many places, there's enormous room for growth. And once people own an Apple product, it's pretty hard for them to put up with something else, or to be able to resist the next Apple product. I think Apple will keep making money for us. long APPL
