iPhone Sales Drastically Surpass Q4 Consensus; Apple Reaches 10m Goal [view article]
the last software update addressed the dropped calls and that seems good now. my family bought two iphones this weekend and everything went well. in spite of the jammed store, service was quick, helpful and friendly.i read that 38% of people who will purchase a smartphone within 6 months, want an iphone. this is astounding! the pc world is so terrified that they've resorted to false rumors, even through cnn!
no advertising will touch apple because people are starting to experience the products and the products are so obivously better than others.
the economy is bad...but that might actually help iphone sales because it's reassuring to people to be in touch with 'their stuff' on the web and with their network of people anywhere they go and Apple has promoted the idea of a personal 'computer' in your pocket with an aura of something fun while being productive. the whole aura is just more positive than the others.
Apple will make $ for us again. disclosure: long appl Oct 06 10:09 AM
The Consumer Spending Slowdown Catches Apple [view article]
Apple is quite capable of constant innovation at a level that inspires new and more sales. that will continue. the analysis in this article only works if Apple products stay the same. that won't happen. of course, the market is a mess and going to get a lot worse as a million people lose their jobs, but Apple already has dropped some prices because it's also innovative about manufacturing (see above article)...and...at the levels their products are selling, they can command lower prices for parts and production and, at no cost to them, pass those lower prices on to consumers. Apple isn't trying to keep its head above water like other pc makers. it can afford to spend $ on innovation. That will make apple a continuing terrific company.p.s. the king of prussia mall store is also doing a booming business. Oct 05 11:32 AM
Steve Jobs' Fake Heart Attack, Courtesy of CNN [view article]
there is so much fear out there about Apple and the obvious climb up the ladder into a higher and higher share of the tech market, that some people will stop at nothing to try and impair that climb. and short traders...sigh. this sort of manipulation should be as illegal as insider trading...and treated the same way! Oct 04 10:13 AMApple Isn't Recession-Proof [view article]
so what is recession proof? only being dead. not a great option. let's talk about something worth discussing...like how businesses are looking at apple because business IT departments are expensive and apple products function better and need less tech support. eventually, when this all shakes out, Apple will be the choice. from what i understand, China doesn't have 3G capability so Apple is retooling to make phones that work with the other network there.good day to buy appl...really cheap. Sep 29 03:40 PM
RIMM Sinks, I’m Holding On [view article]
i think RIMM will hold on for awhile...but they will keep trying to play catch up with Apple's new products. The innovation is just not up to the competition with Apple and that is their main competition. i'm long APPL for that reason...i think in the long run, it will be Apple that does well. Sep 28 11:11 AMAmidst Market Turmoil, Apple Has Unique Opportunity [view article]
in any economy there are always people with $ to spend. Mac buyers are generally more well heeled than some and we're at a point where people born after 1970 just won't be without their tech stuff. Apple is quite capable of turning out products so innovative and seductive that people will buy them anyway. APPL is a great buy for those who hold.i agree about housing and financials. if we're lucky, we're half way through it, but don't count on it. Regular people will be buying used smaller cars, freeing up some $ that went for gas in big guzzlers. We'll become more like Europeans in that people won't buy houses so quickly...or buy ones so big. But Americans are more tech addicted than anyone on the planet except the Japanese. That won't change and Apple will be there to happily provide the products and make the profit and not only survive, but do it in style. Sep 28 11:04 AM
Apple Returns to a Tempting Price [view article]
and.. though Apple orders were down a little for August (vacation time), the 4th quarter has expected gains and a lot of companies are saying they are considering switching to Macs because of the lower need for IT support. (IT departments are expensive and extensive need for tech support is time consuming and $ losing) Sep 25 10:53 AMCompanies Hitting the Brakes on PCs [view article]
Apple will do better and better as more business realize they won't have to keep as big an IT staff to handle tech problems. Sep 25 10:51 AMApple Returns to a Tempting Price [view article]
Apple is entering world markets every week and it is NOT slowing. Apple is Not having difficulty because of the economy...it's shares of everything keep growing. predicting a stalled stock price isn't hard to do in this economy...but it's not stalled because of Apple's failure to grow or to make huge profits or to pile up cash reserves or to be debt free or to be top rated. Sep 25 10:47 AMAdobe's CS4 Should Give Apple Sales a Boost [view article]
the intense rivalry has a lot of old history of david vs goliath. apple (david) and microsoft, mainly. apple nearly folded and to survive sold code to microsoft. that code is now known as windows, word, etc... but of course microsoft has never really known how to use it.people who appreciated Mac OS are just very relieved to be part of a great company that is FINALLY not just the one with top rated products, but one that is also financially secure and gaining global market share for all it's products. please allow us to bask. we've earned it.
that said, we could all do without the name calling. it is possible to be respectful and disagree. let's keep apple's good reputation by acting like the good guys and not alienating possible future customers. thanks.

The Google Phone: Blockbuster or Bust? [view article]
i agree about Google and data. i worry about that. Speaking of Buffett...Apple has a moat and that moat is not just that it's financially secure and debt free or that it's tech support is wonderful...the moat is reputation... how will Google do tech support? how much of who you are will it pass on to 'partners'? where is the physical retail space that will give exclusive support to you and your phone and connect you to other top rated tech products?i just don't see it happening. Jonathan Ive: More Valuable to Apple than Steve Jobs? [view article]
there are a LOT of very talented people at Apple and this article just highlights one of many. and there is no way that Apple and it's crew will let anyone better the iphone for long but the iphone will morph more fully into a handheld computer in the very near future and THAT will be pretty hard to beat by anyone since Apple has such a great OS. good article...thank you. Sep 23 03:28 PMRobin Hood in Reverse: In Defense of the U.S. Taxpayer [view article]
thank you for a good article!while it's true that we're all responsible for this mess...some of these people were actually elected to public office and the SEC let the greediest of the financial institutions make loans at levels that would have been illegal before and no one stopped them.
but individuals who were also greedy and borrowed to buy houses they never intended to live in, 'for investment' are also to blame...so there's a lot to go around.
but it's impossible to believe anything this government says after all the stuff we've been told. i seem to remember a speech from a ship by our president saying it was 'all over' since 'we got him'. that was 6 years ago and the real 'him' is still in some cave in afghanistan, most likely.
so it makes it hard to have confidence in these new 'plans'. it's also true that most people aren't really interested in getting involved enough to even find out the facts. if we don't wake up soon, democracy will be over.
