  • How Apple's Market Share Will Propel Stock to $500, Part 2 [View article]
Great article, Jason. And Fortune has named Jobs the CEO of the decade. He's created such a strong, smart company that it will even make it without him when the inevitable happens. There are amazingly brilliant people at Apple these days, in all sectors of the business. Just as Walt Disney remains the spirit of Disney, so will Steve Jobs remain the spirit of Apple. There are people of such genius that whatever they build seems to take hold and endure.
The stock will continue to do well and we'll be lucky to be able to buy in on the dips at this point. I can't guess the stock price eventually, but i'm as sure as one can be about any company...that Apple will be here in 2020, when some will not be.

  • Chinese Youth Will Propel Economic and Political Changes [View article]
i appreciate this article, which gives another focus and one that is needed.
we should know from our own younger generation that youth will not hold back on spending, nor will people use to technology give it up. this is especially good new for Apple who's innovative technology has always appealed to early adaptors and youth. Of the 3 things mentioned, a house, a car and a phone...the phone is within reach for more people everywhere than the other two and in a bad ecomony, i think Apple especially will continue to grow.
It's true that some Chinese youths are spending their parents' savings...not too different from ours!! Since i'm an APPL stock holder, I hope they choose an iPhone.
as to the Rosy Scenario...i don't think doomsday thinking helps anyone. We need to be realistic, but getting everyone into despair is only going to lead to more depression...people feeling so frozen with fear that they can't even search harder for jobs is not the answer.
We need reasonable financial attitudes but not frozen ideas.

  • Piper Sees '09 E-Commerce Down Due to Increased Saving [View article]
i think we'll see people rationalizing about buying presents this holiday season and that will let them continue to buy the tech toys. but there's another factor... in scary times, people need to feel like they're in touch with loved ones. we'll see more smartphone purchases than one would expect in bad economic times. Apple will do especially well in their retail space, compared to almost anyone else. i keep an eye on the king of prussia store, in PA, and that continues to do a robust business. if you're in there awhile, it's just amazing to realize how many 'newbies' come through the door...and then walk out with a product...often the 'enticer', an ipod shuffle or nano...but only after drooling over an iphone or Mac. Those stores offer such a high level of emotional and intellectual satisfaction and support...if other hi-tech places did this, they woudln't be in chapter 11....circuit city could use a few lessons.

  • Investors Are Not Selling the iPhone News [View article]
i would bet that most people, including those in my family, bought the iphone NOT for the phone...but for a real internet experience and real GPS, plus everything else. what those million people know is that it's not really a phone. it's closer to a shirt pocket computer. the rest of the world will catch on and this stock is a long term winner because of quality, innovation, great customer interface and tech support. Apple has a terrific reputation...you didn't see a million people willing to stand in line 8 hours to buy a Zune on the first day. There's a reason.
