  • Why Portfolio Managers Will Never Beat Warren Buffett Or Berkshire, But Are Happy Trying [View article]
Nice article but yeah, I don't agree with your thesis that Buffett has "perfect" information which makes him a better investor. That has to be BS because it's just data. It's the insights/analytics and his ability to forecast future gains which makes him a great investor as well as his emotional temperment. You also have to consider Peter Lynch. Did he have perfect information? No.....so how did he perform as manager of the Magellan fund?

  • Exxon Mobil (XOM) says CEO Rex Tillerson’s total compensation reached $40.2M last year, up 15% Y/Y, with much of the increase due to a change in pension value and other deferred compensation earnings. Tillerson's salary rose to $2.5M from $2.4M; effective Jan. 1, his salary increased to $2.7M. [View news story]
But you're retired because of XOM. Isn't that a good thing?

  • Recent Market Spikes Favor Small-Cap Soup Companies [View article]
No offense but who cares about the run-up? It's a long-term hold anyway. You don't hold this for a few months but for a few decades and you'll be solid.

  • Bet On Peltz, Pepsi And Mondelez? [View article]
If Pepsi sells its Frito-lay to Mondelez, then management at Pepsi are beyond stupid. Frito-lay is the only reason why Pepsi is valuable. If anything, Pepsi would take out Mondelez or merge.

  • The Bed Bath & Beyond Stock Buyback Should Make You Richer [View article]
    Tim,

I looked at this at the recent all-time low and was thinking of buying it. The ROA and ROE looks good in addition to P/E. Yet, I didn't buy it because retail is an incredibly tough business. And like Buffett said that you should feel as if the market closed and didn't care about the stock......if you have a good business. I don't think BBBY is that great of a business. General Mills, Pepsi, yes. Not BBBY.

  • Is LinkedIn Really Overvalued? [View article]
bubb - Confused but if companies can manipulate gross/operating profit, that means 'net income' would also be affected so you can't go by them.
