just wanted to thank you all for the discussion.. I would love to get BAC at $5 and have been sitting around just waiting for it to happen. If I had realized I could be making money selling puts while I am waiting for the price to drop and STILL have the potential to get the shares I want I wouldn't have been buying calls on STX and NTAP for the last week!! ahhaa I also agree that any net profits when you first start is a plus and only a sign of things to come when you have more funds to invest, so Bill D keep doing your thing. Colin, I would even like to thank you for hammering home the best arguments for NOT selling puts, and helping me realize how truly wrong you are. If you guess right every time you can certainly make more money buying shares/calls, and there are certainly times for that sort of trade (how about Arena earlier this month???).. but over the long term selling puts it seems I would either be earning commision on contract premiums OR buying shares selling at "bottoms" for companies I am long term bullish on... sounds good to me.
