A Transaction Tax to Reduce Liquidity on U.S. Markets? Terrible Idea

Have not read the article but I would guess that the attempt is to reduce the volatility. Applying a tax treats the symptoms, not the disease; the latter being the market has become a gambling casino, not a place for long-term investments. A ban on programmed trading and daytrading would be a better start.
