  • Bad News Continues To Pile Up At Amazon [View article]
I don't see how AMZN's long term plan can hold up, they are trying to undercut the competition and build good-will through things like Prime. But that good-will isn't buying them anything, as of now people are not buying Fire Phones or Fire TVs because Amazon gave them a nice discount on a laptop and included free 2 day shipping. And if they raise prices competition is a click away, it's hard to create this monopoly they ultimately need to be successful on the Internet.

  • Amazon Prime Looks To Continue Audience Participation Experiment With Third Pilot Season [View article]
Out of all the streaming companies Netflix is the only one getting buzz for their series, unless you count Jerry Seinfeld's Crackle show, and Amazon is far behind. It appears Amazon is doing this cautious approach because these shows are quite expensive which makes sense on the surface but people don't seem to be taking the time to review the pilots. As of this comment none of Amazon's pilots has 500+ reviews, this is astounding low when you think about the "tens of millions" subscribers to Amazon Prime. Amazon should try to reach more viewers for their pilots or just take the plunge and release 2-3 series instead of 5 pilots.

This leads me to something more about the company Amazon, Bezos appears to want to make Amazon the go to place for everything but right now people only go on Amazon because something is cheaper there than an other place. Things like original series, Fire Phone, Kindle Tablets aren't going to get people to continue shopping at Amazon, lower prices will. At least now anyway.

Netflix stopped pursuing a deal because Viacom was trying to force Netflix to buy some of their lesser popular shows to get access to Dora, Spongebob, South Park etc. They decided to expand their Disney deal instead

  • Amazon Did NOT Slay Apple, But It Will Gain Prime Members From Its New 3D Fire Phone [View article]
You just said why you don't like Android, you didn't say anything about how this ONE phone puts Android/Microsfot to shame. And some of the things you named are subjective:
    "UI looks shamefully obsolete"-opinion
"too many pixels, too poor audio"- opinion
"too short battery life"- opinion, the battery on the Galaxy S5 is slightly larger than the one on the Fire Phone. And Amazon hasn't even said how these new features would impact battery life.
"no gesture controls"- This is available on Galaxys
"no app store"- The Amazon App Store, 200,000 total apps, is one-fifth of the Google Play App Store, 1 Million apps
"no media to play" - Movies, Music, TV shows, Books, etc. are available on Google Play.
"weird incomplete features added on"- opinion

" Amazon's first ever smartphone puts both Microsoft and Google to shame. "
How is one phone on one carrier in one country doing that?

  • Amazon 3D Smartphone Launch: 5 Winners And Losers [View article]
Apple had a similar 3D feature in iOS that they had to create an off switch for because people complained about dizziness. I don't see this taking off because it is on one carrier in one market, and it is the same price as the iPhone and Samsung Galaxys.

Also that July 25 release date is too far, something new/better could be announced in the next month before the thing even ships.

I think this is going to be a bust like Facebook Home, and that phone was cheaper with a huge marketing budget.

  • How Amazon Could Augment Android And Attract Developers [View article]
Then why aren't there not many apps for Blackberry? "All" a developers needs to do for that is modify their Android app? That's realtively easy, but nobody is doing that because of the lack of users for the platform.

And the lack of apps for the platform aren't getting users to purchase those phones.

Microsoft has about 4% market share Amazon should be thrilled to get that considering they are only selling one phone that is only on one carrier. So I don't see how Amazon is going to get enough users.

And Microsoft doesn't have any market share because they don't have any apps, vicious cycle.

    2. But Google has a lot of stuff customers want, Amazon has to provide an email client, web browser, maps, search, etc.

It is going to be disappointing if a user can't get access to the Youtube app.

I don't see how a carrier exclusive phone can be successfully anymore. People are hesitant to switch their phone maker, it is going to be a hard sell for them to switch their phone maker and provider.
Also on your developer point, one big one they aren't going to get is Google. It doesn't make sense for Google to support this OS, they don't support Microsoft's either and AMZN is starting from square 1.

One big developer Amazon won't get is Google, it doesn't make any sense for Google to support AMZNs platform, they don't support Microsoft's and that one has much larger marketshare.

  • Will Amazon's 3D Phone Slay Apple? [View article]
@Jack Prices don't really matter when most buyers in the USA get subsidies, assuming the phone is $100 on contract Apple an iPhone model available at that price. Also they are already Android phones cheaper than that.

  • The New Kindle Fire Is Not Selling Well [View article]
@Krusty don't let electronic giants fool you, just because something is sold out doesn't mean it was successful, they could of purposely limited the supply to create some artificial demand. The Microsoft Surface was initially sold out, and they wrote down almost 1 Billion on that.

You are proving my point you are saying that people could still use Google services on the Kindle, which would make Google money on a device Amazon sells for cost.
