Sandstorm Continues Its Growth, Stock Is Attractive [View article]
Not interested in stories about growth or whatever. Chart for SAND looks very constructive. Au/ag complex always moves in a pack. Some may perform better than others. SAND unlikely to move by itself. It will have to wait for the up cycle to kick in. No surprise here, if it does better than others when the pm complex decides to move in earnest.

Launch pad indeed. Confirmed by a huge turnaround in the last holdout ANV, up 30% today from the subterranean depths. In my view, today marks an important reversal in the pm complex. We are still in the basing stage. If not in already, one can buy on dips by using intraday charts as timing tools. Fundamentals, financial metrics do provide useful background. They are NOT timing tools. Nothing beats internal evidence from the market itself. SPx/Dow acting resilient because previous laggards intc, msft, cat are waking up from slumber. Premature bears will continue to be disappointed by the refusal of dow/spx to pull back significantly. There could always be minor corrections of 10-12%. US$ languishing under ma 20. It needs to sink below 50 ma before we can see some fireworks in the pm complex. Some analysts seem to think that IMPU aka ratio analysis is some kind of holy grail. Not true. One needs to look under the hood and seek confirmation from elsewhere.

Nope. Why slw? What is in a name? Run the per unit chart hl:slw. HL comes out on the top. Market says HL has better RS and so rates as a better buy. I rest my argument.
Precious Metal Analyst Watch - April Edition [View article]
At last, ANV is making a big bounce today, top gainer among GDX components. This is what I have been waiting for. In my view, today April 09, 2013 marks the beginning of new up move in GDX. Nothing beats internal market evidence, including the most detailed fundamental analysis based on various financial metrics. The entire GDX component board is solid green today for a change. Yeah, the pm train is beginning to move. We are still in the basing stage. There will be plenty of opportunity to buy on dips, if not already in. Major moves last for weeks/ months. Easy does it.
Newmont Mining Vs. Barrick Gold: A Value Comparison [View article]
Happy to leave discussion of valuation metrics to writers of articles like this. From September high, nem's haircut is 33%, abx haircut is 38%. A potential double bottom could be taking shape on NEM daily, while ABX continues to leak with no end in sight for decline. ABX's problem could be poor management over a long period of time. Technically, up to this point, market sees more value in NEM than ABX.
The market does not seem to care right now about all the factors enumerated by the writer. It might at some future date. Let price activity tell us about a possible trend reversal instead of relying on conjecture.
Nice graphs. But, market does not seem to care at the moment. It might pay attention at some future date to all the factors so ably and painstakingly enumerated by the author. GDX is not going anywhere in a hurry until DUST crumbles. ANV is still leaking big. May be the writer can do an article on ANV similar to that on NEM, KGC?
sour grapes? It is simplistic to think that market is binary; up or down. There is a 3rd mode, sideways. Analysts who are just focused on major averages and do not look under the hood could have a difficult time getting the right read on the market. The market could stagnate in a sideways mode for a while frustrating both perma bulls and perma bears. Just something to think about.
Valid reasons. But, gdx, gdxj, sil are in weekly downtrend, while gld/slv are range bound. Until price signals a reversal by moving about critical mas, the trend is sideways to down.

The writer could be right at some point in the future. Right now, daily and weekly trends are down. Most analysts tend to make premature calls due to competitive pressure? These are not new arguments. Many other writers have been making similar arguments since mid February. The market has not cared so far. It might at some future date. Let us wait for price activity to alert us about a trend change. Significant moves tend to last from several weeks to months. Easy does it.
