  • American Oriental Bioengineering Keeps Growing Despite Bad Moves [View article]
I wouldn't touch AOB due to their poor business decisions. The only thing that saves them is China's still relatively robust economy. AOB may have 82M in profit in Q4, but shareholders wont see much of that due to AOB's continued diluitive deals. Want a good pharma that grows as organically as possible and is a real cash cow for their size? Take a look at CSKI. For me, that's the one to own CSKI will double before AOB gives you 50%.

APWR's cash balance is actually just shy of $2.00/ share. At the end of Q3, they had 58+M cash. This is a great company that will recover nicely. They have a two pronged business model so have revenue streams coming from both their local power generation business, and now their wind turbines.

  • The Case for Higher Interest Rates and Lower Home Prices [View article]
This author has serious brain damage with clear inability to integrate even a fraction of the ramifications of keeping interest rates stable. We're trying to avert deflation here and put a floor under falling prices. Lowering interest rates is the most powerful means at the treasury's disposal. Keeping them high will result further market depreciation, increased bank failures, more credit default swap payouts, even less retail spending, and the viscious cycle continues. This is just basic supply/demand economics which Scott here just doesn't seem to grasp. Back to school Scotto!

  • A Bright Future for American Superconductor [View article]
Good post there Buffet Jr! Just one area of clarification. The first Turbines are in fact going to be assembled during November and December and will be claimed in the Q4 ER. The remaining 40 are due by July, during which time I would imagine some of those LOI's will convert to signed contracts. ...... Yes, Kelvin has done very little dd on APWR! Just their new dist pwr contracts will indeed give them significant growth next year.

Kelvin's comments regarding APWR no doubt represented complete lack of impulse control reflecting his investment conflict of interest in solar. The reason APWR was not mentioned in the stimulus package is because they're doing so well that they don't need help-- they already have government support in place for their industry and have had for some time. As for the likelihood of them slipping back below $4, that's likely Kelvin's wish so that he can buy in at a price he wants to pay. In my correspondence with Ian Shanno, APWR's IR Director, APWR is doing quite well.
