I wish the sale of bonds were deregulated like equities have been for years. The commission rates for bond are just too high for me to buy individual securities over bond funds. So currently I'm stuck with LQD, AGG, and BND.

I agree we need more bond ETFs. The blue chip long-term bond ETF, symbol LQD is great, but what about an intermediate-term version of this bond? This is an ideal time for introducing more of a selection of bond ETFs. The real yields are very attractive, inflation is not a problem (at least not for many months if not a couple of years), and equities at this point are highly unstable. In the municipal area, I believe there is also only long-term ETFs. Again, we need intermediate term muni ETFs also.

This excellent article points out the lack of non-treasury ETFs for the investor. The ratio of ETFs for equities vs. non-treasury bonds is excessively large and I hope it will be reduced in time.
