    this ironically will probably mean much much lower prices for gold. the main problem with gold as a currency is its limited amounts, which restricts golds flow and hampers growth. if the world is out of new gold, there will be even fewer reasons to use it as currency. other than that, gold serves no useful purpose to humans. short gold.

    Huh? you call these little Gulf conflicts wars? LOLOL!!! Have you read a single book on the 20s-30s-40s?? Hint: "Casablanca" does not count. Have you LIVED anywhere outside of peachy USA? Jezuz Christ, I am not really sure you know what real hardship is!!!

    LOL! another gold bug peddling his book. There is a myriad reasons why today is not 1923. I would say one small difference to start with is we have not lost a World War yet (with huge "loser" payments to the winners), and do not have a pre-revolutionary situation at home with 30% unemployment. Thats the small reason. Another one, we dont have a gold standard either. Also, I think it would be even more fun to go as far back as the American revolution times, to makes things even more interesting, why not??? And while we are at it, why not draw parallels with Roman Empire, there got to be plenty of those, no??
