I'm not moving away because I'm staying here so that when the eventual collapse comes and anarchy reins I can be part of the execution squads that hunt down the corrupt politicans and their families. That seems to be quite an effective policy with the war between the Israelis and the Hamas; not only are the Hamas leaders being killed but so are their families in bombing raids. You can't beat that! Even that policy will make any sociopathic and suicidal Palestinian think twice about leading a terrorist group when they know that their whole family will be executed along with them for their terrorist activities. These cowards think they can hide behind their wives and children and mosques but they are finding out otherwise.
It is also an effective deterrent in China; a quick trial and execution with a bullet to the back of the head for corrupt politicians and criminals.
Taking it one step further; execute all known gang members in the United States and all career criminals.

Four Reasons for an Immediate Rise in Gold [View article]
And then what? Then enters the global cashless society, where all money is electronic and you can't buy and sell unless you are part of the system. Then you won't even be allowed to use gold or precious metals as money or barter, only the global electronic debit system. Drats, foiled again!
What's that, you say? You don't want the government controlling every facet and detail of your private life? You refuse to get that microchip implanted under your skin? Too bad, you sold your soul a long time ago to the powers-that-be. You'll just be erased from the system's computers. No more buying or selling for you. Off with your head!
Plan B? There is no plan B.
"The current fake and tyranical monetary and finacial system is breaking down. Eventually (at the very last possible second) the blind and noisy multitudes are going to see this, and when they do there will be the biggest PANIC and flight to precious metals than known in recorded history."
Your article states there have been 162,500t of gold mined in the entire world history, as of Q3, 2008. Of that, you state that central banks own 18% (29,784t) and investors own 82%. 18% of 162,500t is 29,250t, not 29,784t. That's a 534t discrepancy that needs to be clarified. Overall, I thought it was a great article.
Also, of interest, according to the World Gold Council website, the World Total Official Gold Holdings, as of December 10, 2008, are 29,697.1t. That would mean 87t have left the WTOGH's between Q3 (September), 2008 and December 10, 2008.
Let's see, 32,000 oz. in a ton x 87t = 2,784,000 oz. x current price of $885.00. 2,784,000 oz. x $885.00 = $2,463,840,000. That's apprx. $2.5 billion in gold sold off in the last 3 months by various central banks worldwide.

Credit default swaps; are they really toxic and worthless? How do know that this isn't some grand illegal transfer of funds scheme cooked up by the people who are running the Fed (group of private banks, not really a government agency) and their buddies running these companies? Where are the CDOs going to end up, in whose pocket?
Forget trying to steal a little here, a little there, let's steal all of it, all at one time. How do we know this isn't some grand Ponzi scheme cooked up by the big boys, grander then even Madoff's mad scheme?
Trillions of dollars stolen from the taxpayers right out from under the watchful eye (wink-wink) of our federal government agencies (like the SEC was watching Madoff).
They weren't all asleep at the wheel, they are actually PART of the master scheme. They are going to make sure America NEVER recovers from this, they WANT our country to collapse. You can bet the FBI and most other federal law enforcement agencies are in on it, too, otherwise, how do you explain these monkeys not hearing or seeing or speaking, except after the crimes having been committed? They've been sworn to uphold the law? They'r on the take, is why. What a joke, I have absolutely no respect for our corrupt federal law enforcement agencies, more worried about keeping their jobs, rather than upholding the law. How can these people stand to look their families in the face when they get home?

The SEC's probe of Bernard Madoff's alleged $50B fraud is looking closely at whether Madoff's family was involved in any way, sources say. Madoff's sons have said they knew nothing until their father confessed. [View news story]
There's more to this story then meets the eye. Where could $50 billion have gone to? It didn't disappear into thin air. Madoff had to be funneling that money off to somewhere. Nobody could have spent $50 billion dollars in several lifetimes. I think Madoff was the front man (and fall guy) for some unknown (government-related?) group/organization.
I know one thing for sure, somebody in the SEC was paid off to look the other way. Either that or they're totally incompetent. I'll go with "paid off".

Everyone I know in my town (northcentral Wisconsin) has gas heating bills running $100 to $200 for the last month and winter has just started. That gas is coming from somewhere, any backlog will eventually be depleted and the price sure hasn't gone down from last winter.
I bought CHK at $16.25 and if it keeps getting lower I'll keep buying while it's low because it will eventually go back up. I'll be waiting to pounce on the author's anticipated $10.00 price per share.
I'll go with billf922's assessment. It almost seems like the analysts are trying to scare the little guys out of the markets with bad reports of gloom and doom so the big guys can swoop in and recoup their huge losses from their greedy and stupid ways of allowing others to do their investing for them.

"But the automaker said this week that it would shut down all of its 30 plants for at least a month starting today to conserve cash. GM and Ford have also announced extended year-end plant shutdowns."
Wanna bet these plants won't be opening back up once they're closed?
