    the typical worker will spend less but the Chinese tycoon shouldn't be of concern. The devaluation of the yuan is meant to boost export growth. E.g., steel, toys, you name it.

    I will add that the margin debt carried on the Shanghai stock market is very high and it eerily reminded me of a precursor to any depression the US experience. I read this a wk ago. Buying stocks on margin is gambling!

    good article on Macau gaming in Bloomberg Markets sept. issue. Lots of facts & figures tp digest! The article has Galaxy Entertainment's Francis Lui and he's wagering the 500 million Chinese who emerged out of poverty since '78 will trump the 'crackdown.' After finishing their cotai casino expansion, Galaxy will build on Hengqin island.

    Macau has 27K hotel rooms.
    Las Vegas 150K hotel rooms.
    31.5 million visitors whith 2/3 from China and many are day trippers.
    Casino operators want to expand non-gaming rev. but I remember reading Sands' Quebec acrobatic show flopped at the Venetian Macau right?

    reportedly, BTU is exiting the Australian metallurgical coal market for $1B. Some SA-users in the article said it was false. The article was written by Keith on SA. What if Peabody tried to merge arch with the sale money? With so many companies bankrupt wouldn't aci, btu benefit from those companies shutting down mines permanently? Thus, reducing usa coal supply.
    CAT & KOL are trading flat today.
