  • Peabody Energy Corporation CEO Says Coal Is Still On Top, But Is It? [View article]
I forgot to write on this on stocktalks. Look up Transatomic power corp. being set-up by Cambridge, MA. The next generation of nuclear power, or reusing spent fuel, is to use nuclear waste as a fuel which would reduce 100K of barrels of nuclear waste to the size of a grapefruit in a form of a salt.
It was on CNN this past weekend, the interviewed the ceo, the theory, development stages; it is viable. The US is behind it as it promotes clean energy. While it's still being develop, 5 are planned in the USA and 86 in china! no joke that's what they said.

  • KCG Holdings Continues To Hide Under The Radar [View article]
woohoo! At least someone wrote an article.

Maybe there's low vol. since we're still in a bull market and stockholders are waiting for a sell? There might be a trend towards buy and hold vs. constant trading? Nonetheless, it's scary to see such a statistic.

As Peabody's ceo said in the article: "coal wins every time."

Anyways, Germany has since 2011 become pro coal and 2 links to prove it. The first is dated '12 and the second link was written in '14. Germany is building a small fleet of coal plants.

  • Universal Studios Japan looks for casino partner [View news story]
On his visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Abe favored the Singapore model: Sands' casino in the business district and Genting's casino out in the suburbs adjoining another one of universal studios' theme parks.
With that noted, wynn or sands would be ideal for tokyo and Caesars or mgm would fit the Osaka vacation model.

A question would be where's Universal Studio's Japan theme park located?

And wouldn't you think of Wynn's ex-japanese partner put him at odds in Japan?

  • Las Vegas Sands: Presenting A Buying Opportunity [View article]
Another import issue to write about, that usually isn't brought up in SA articles, is the junket operators. Are they here to stay or are they being transition out of the market and/or their role. Being long LVS, I know they're gearing towards mass gaming and even in their last Q2 report they said their not banking on the high flying vip revenue to come back any time soon which surprised me.

    Great article.

  • Deutsche Bank lowers forecast for Macau growth [View news story]
yeah, this is a case when i wouldn't trust the bankstas.

China's President Mr. Xi is on a campaign to eliminate corruption thoroughly inside and out the Chinese government. This may be a reason for the slow down to macau's tycoon gameplay. It's mass gaming isn't slowing down. Melco has one casino on the cotai strip and the Altria casino is heavily reliant on vip gaming.
I found this on Melco crown today http://bit.ly/1oP0gQV

  • Any Upside Potential With Melco Crown? [View article]
yeah, don't bank on Studio city becoming a casino. Macau gaming officials have not confirmed nor denied Melco Crown a gaming license. In general, the gov't of Macau is promoting non-gaming development. With that aside. Melco looks like an ok buy. Their revenue increased from 2012 to '13 but their profit margin only slightly increased.

  • Bear Of The Day: Melco Crown [View article]
Yes, As I see it the Altria is more VIP customer orientated than to its City of Dreams cotai; this is fairly balance. I belive vip played dropped 62% from the last quarter right? Is Mocha clubs their old Taipa casino?

What does James Packer do for Melco?

The company is ok and is buy at current levels. Its probably trading downwards due to Pres. Xi and the anti-corruption agenda. I just laugh at Zacks investment thesis. I would say to buy now in-order to sell higher later on which is the reverse of their thesis.

  • Leucadia National Corp.: Liquidity And Credit Risk Analysis [View article]
Yes, I too notice LUK in the Fortune 500 mag. Do anyone of yall folks think Ian or Joseph bought National beef for tax reduction planning? Anyways, if Leucadia trends down more in the coming months I plan to pick up some additional shares. As noted in the 10K if they lost their walmart contract National Beef would lose 10% of its revenue and would be hard to refill it. And it did in fact lose the walmart contract and was behind 2 of biggest ecoli break-outs last year. http://bit.ly/1mSxbyv
Contrary to my understanding, I believed that high cattle prices would benefit slaughterhouses in National beef's favor.
From bloomberg, as Ian leaves from the BOD, he's getting paid a hefty package that rivals JPM dimon and (NYSE:GS) ceo.

Besides LNG in oregon, winning DOE approval while awaiting the FERC permit, and the LakeCharles project, last year the coal-to-liquids plant in Indiana procured a supreme court win with the state in favor of building the SNG plant. I was unaware of this. I was under the assumption it was lost considering the cheap abundant natural gas prices.

The Dept. of Energy is in favor of SNG plant because it is a clean energy project and it would burn tons and tons of coal clean.

  • Bear Of The Day: Melco Crown [View article]
hahaha...And just 10 months ago Zacks wrote a "bull..." Melco article. First thing I dislike about Melco is that it's a "holding company" which just turned me off.
In its Altria casino it has somewhere around 7 floors run by junket operators, e.g., Amax; thus, being highly dependent on vip revenue. When Melco entered the scene it paid the highest commission rates resulting in other casino operators to raise their commission unto junkets, that being around 2008ish. Last time I checked don't expect studio city to become a casino.
(NYSE:LVS) uses its fleet of air jets, comps suits to whales on a daily basis to eliminate the middle man; a Macau casino can push its profit margin 10-15% by doing so.

So Zacks says to buy high and sell low...
