  • Weak Coal Market To Probably Take Toll On Arch's Performance In Near Term [View article]
Was coal slurry in there too? The recent DUK coal spill last year made head lines! Pres. Clinton made coal slurry a non-toxic waste back in the 90's.

So did Japan's gov't recently vote against the new casino bill? I thought of it as a plus not a minus. Furthermore, I had a "bet" that LVS would have won a bid to build a casino there.

Early today I bought HP. A good way to play the low oil prices while not having to worrying about debt levels of e&p companies. I wonder if a ban would spread to the eagle ford and N. Dakota, Colorado, Oklahoma regions.

Great article. I'm long HP. Comparing HAL and RIG debt levels Helmerich doesn't have as much. I knew BHP was in the shale business but didn't know they contracted it out to HP.

HP is a good way to play the shale revolution with out the debt issues like small cap producers XCO WLL SD.

  • Teck Resources: An Undervalued Falling Knife [View article]
To confirm Zernov's article about the dividend case, UBS came out with a buy rating stating the div. payment is safe and shockingly only a day later after your article. During the summer, the WSJ came out with a report saying several large zinc mines are going to close around the world and there would not be enough zinc to supply the markets nor will there be mines be as big.

Oh yes it does. Iron ore spot prices runs in tandem with metallurgical coal spot prices just like thermal coal runs in tandem with natural gas (it's biggest competitor). A steel company isn't going to keep paying the same price for coal if iron ore is over supplied.

The once in a century Queensland flood in '11 caused metallurgical coal prices to reach unfathomable prices. http://onforb.es/1vXfnFJ
Do you know how steel is made? While there's a recyclable method, and even a natural gas method I blieve, most steel is made from iron and met. coal. What goes on in mining world of Australia in terms of ores and coal affects the coal prices in the world.

If you read up on Senator McConnell, then you'll read about his wife is a member of the Sierra club and the sierra club along with Mr. Bloomberg are behind the "beyond Coal" campaign.

Unless you're expecting a massive flood in Australia to disrupt the supply line don't expect demand to rise for met. coal. The trio Vale, RIO, and BHP are over supplying the iron ore markets thus lowering the ceiling prices of coal prices.

Russia just cancelled the South Stream pipeline to the south-east Europe http://reut.rs/1qCiXZY and Germany has plans to build multiple coal power plants. It was just last week that the US gov't past a new legislation/bill to supply Europe with natural gas and supply arms to the Ukrainian gov't--only ten votes were against the bill. I can only name Colombian and probably parts of Africa as a net exporter of thermal coal to Europe.

CNX has plans to spin off its coal assets but kept its coal port so I imagine coal is still there game.

Thanks for the Ebitda to debt ratio. Any given coal company will always have debt. I'm down the whole on coal....like to see how low diesel prices will fan out for $ACI and how natural gas prices will fare when we start exporting LNG.

Noble looks pretty good at these prices. The EU will defiantly need natural gas for its energy demands...Is Derek Energy in there too?

ya the thermal spot prices for coal have tanked lower; thus, arch coal's rev. will go down...wonder how low diesel prices would effect their operating expenses. Russia just canceled the natural gas pipeline to europe. Germany has built more coal plants.
