The public should be backing the auto sector & buying North American or we can just call it "Selling North America a Bit at a Time" just like selling your soul to the Devil !!

PM - Ford took money just not from the government - they drew on a line of credit that was set up prior to the $hit hitting the fan on Wall St. When it all comes due Ford will also be in the same shape as GM & Chrysler.

More speculation .... everyone has a different twist on where we are going, what companies will excel & decel. What we should be doing is set a date, set the odds thru Vegas and see who wins - this would be the most accurate speculation yet. Need facts - not fiction!!

I'm pretty sure that Fox must be upset because the auto companies have pulled ads to save $$ - so now they just go out of their way to stab at them and upset everyone involved - if they were the battery that GM is looking for in the Chevy Volt - Fox would definatley be the "negative" side of that battery!!

  • $5k Vouchers for Car Purchases: Utter Nonsense [View article]
If there was an exact science or formula to get out of this mess I'm quite sure that we would have found the way out by now but until we are out of this mess there are going to be many avenues explored including the 5K voucher. They are also talking about 15K breaks on mortgages to try and get those interested out buying a new house to get the housing moving which means more vehicles needed which means the auto parts will be required which means that they will need steel to build those parts and on and on.

Just like the EV1 back in 1990 ... there was great potential then but with gas & diesel so cheap there was no market, now people know that eventually gas will be back up there again one day there should be a market but like Triple G says ... some slow acceptance

One should also see that buying from Detoit that it is a great way to make your investment as a taxpayer prosper returning a larger profit on the loans to the big 3 and help the ailing economy by providing a proven 30% more jobs to the local economy than the imports and help out greatly in these desperate times for all. When Detroit's doing GOOD the economy is usually doing GREAT!!

  • The 12 Most Important Cars of 2009 [View article]
Even though GM gets critisism for having to many product lines there are many in their lineup that have good value, great resale and great gas mileage according to many (Impala, Malibu, Vibe, Silverado for a few) If anyone is out to buy a new car there is at least one from GM that would compare to just about any other product. That being said they will be forced into reducing their brands just to save money which will take some options away from the customer.
You also have to consider that buying from Detoit that it is a great way to make your investment as a taxpayer prosper and help the ailing economy by providing a proven 30% more jobs to the local economy and help out greatly in these desperate times for all.

  • It's Likely That Auto Sales Have Bottomed [View article]
.... I'm thinking now that as North Americans lose their jobs, houses and a way to support their families and the fact that as TAX payers (in US & Canada) that now own a piece of GM /Chrysler (soon Ford as well) that they will see the advantage of BUYING North American and support their investments in those companies and help fix our ailing economies at the same time, hopefully the governments will also look more at EQUAL trade as opposed to FREE trade which has proven to do little more than take away the much needed JOBs & PROFITs from our economies. • Toyota, GM, Ford: Showing Off Green Cars Amid Economic Gloom [View article]
It could be my imagination but, does this article look like an actual article or a COMMERCIAL for Toyota - but then again it's only mentioned 7 times in such a short blurp - Hmmmm..... I'm pretty sure that the NORTH AMERICAN AUTO SECTOR also has some good products and at a fair price. Did I mention who paid for the research & developement of the nickel-metal-hydride in the prius for Toyota - the Japanese government ... or as it's commonly refered to - the Japanese tax payers. Sure would be nice if ours chipped in to help reduce the price of hybrids & electrics built here maybe OILCAN would be able to afford one then.

  • GMAC: Happy to Lend You Some of Your Own Money [View article]
BRAVO!!! ... GM (GMAC) lending money to start sales moving and people are buying cars !! Perhaps those old fella's in Washington will note what is happening and push Wall St. to do something constructive with the $350 billion they got instead of bonuses for the #^%%$&^'s that caused the CRISIS like use the money for what it was intended like get the economy in a forward motion again.
They really didn't have to pay bonuses to have them straighten out the mess, the government just needed to show them that if they would like to face prosecution for mismanagement the alternative would seem much less attractive - then of course there are people in the government that were put in place to control this as well that should have been doing a song & dance for Detroit and the rest of the country instead of burying the heads of the Big 3 in a smoke and mirrors show.
Now lets just hope that they look at EQUAL trade as opposed to FREE trade and fix a few other issues as well !!

Indiana mayors hope fed loans preserve auto makers

Mayors from Marion and Kokomo in Indiana hope federal package can save their cities' auto jobs

Clam - as I said they are way to greedy - if you flood a market when it's already saturated this is the result - google the article above and see the other side of the coin - you also have a great dependecy on NORTH AMERICAN manufacturers as well in Indiana - don't forget where most of the profits go from the Toyota's & Honda's - Back Home! not on mortgages here.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The mayors of two of Indiana's automotive powerhouses -- Marion and Kokomo -- said they hope $17.4 billion in federal loans can stabilize General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC and safeguard their cities' large number of auto-related jobs.

  • If Toyota Is Projecting a Loss, Imagine the Pain Detroit Is in For [View article]
If Toyota, Honda, Kia & Hyundai had been more like the European car companies which have their corner of North American market which they are content with, the global car market would not be in the sad state it's in - the Asians were WAY to GREEDY and kept dumping cars here - oh sure they built a few plants here as well but they came with the intentions of taking way too much of the North American auto turf and now all of them and us are paying for it.
If the North American auto industry was not laying off 100's of 1000's of workers all of that money generated would still be going back into the economy now but we as North Americans figured we were invincIble and started to buy more & more imports, which as we now know was just shooting ourselves in the foot and we were all holding the gun when it went off.
If the economy is to be turned around we must educate the people and this is a hard lesson learned. We need to suck it up, realize we are not as strong in the global market as we all thought and start buying what our neighbors, friends and realitives all build or we will find ourselves in a hole that we will take decades to get out of. Just think of all the jobs and futures of our children that will not happen if we don't. The governments have all signed DEALs with other countries (not enough thought put into them for the long term) that they cannot get out of but we as the people are free to buy as we want so we now know to buy NORTH AMERICAN and help OURSELVES survive the economic crisis.
