Sirius XM Gets Some Breathing Room from Delisting Freeze [View article]
Well folks, I am making SURE that my votes are put in on the thumbs up side. It's obvious there is a small group of folks who have nothing better to do than hit the thumbs down button. Also, someone is actually changing votes...so they have admin privileges on this board....pretty interesting! Anyway, you folks on here keep doing what you do...I enjoy reading all the different opinions.
Sirius XM's Latest Pricing Move Helps the Bottom Line [View article]
It's a good move....unfortunately the timing sucks and I think it will hurt some at first. I also think there are better ways to increase revenue that they appear to be leaving on the table, or just don't understand. I am completely puzzled by the marketing arm of this company.

Still can't figure out why partnering up with the likes of IPOD, ZUNE,etc. hasn't struck a chord. This is where they can make significant inroads in not being so literally and figuratively tied to the new car market. I still have to believe that a company like Microsoft.....which has a good product in the Zune player...but hasn't been able to compete with the IPOD, would jump at the opportunity to further distinguish itself as the anti-IPOD, and offer something totally different with the capability to use the Zune Player to not only download music....but also listen to SATRAD. To me....that's just an incredible opportunity that I do NOT UNDERSTAND why it hasn't been explored. Partnering with Microsoft would lend itself to other opportunities as well.....how about being able to listen to SIRIUS on your X BOX while playing your favorite video game? Don't these companies have any serious(no pun intended) thinkers working for them? I have seen so many incredible ideas by posters here in Seeking Alpha, it's as if we are all living in another world when compared to the people in charge at these HUGE companies! I realize nothing is as easy as it is portrayed here...but man...the lack of inspiration this company continues to display is nothing if not EXTREMELY frustrating!
Could It Finally Be Time to Buy Sirius XM Stock? [View article]
relmor,
Thanks for the tip. I was in a holding pattern till today. I am averaged to .26 cents....and will definitely take it down further before it climbs above that number. Today is a confirmation of my confidence !
Sirius XM Must Get Serious About Its Hardware [View article]
The things they need to do have been mentioned numerous times on articles here. Partner with Mocrosoft on a Zune/SIRI player, work out a way to stream SIRI from an XBOX while playing a game.....etc. Its not too hard to think these things up....the challenge is the R&D and marketing folks seem to be stuck in neutral. Can you imagine the audience that would be added if SIRI could be streamed through thse devices....and its a demographic they are needing to add to if they are to truly achieve the success we all hope for. Microsoft should be hot for these ideas as well....they have been running second fiddle to iPOD since the beginning and have never even come close to closing the gap, or winning iPOD users over. A move like this would benefit both companies and create alot of buzz.

Far Away,
Agree with you.....however, doing things like my previous post suggests would almost certainly go a long way towards resolving the debt issue. It would at a minimum, help mitigate the fears that the auto industry issues have projected on SIRI/XM due to their single minded approach to growing the subscriber base.

Tyler,
While you bring up a good point, I tend to believe that the big 3, especially in the current state of the economy, are making VERY conservative projections right now. I'm sure you have heard the old saying in business" under promise and overperform" well it is my contention that the estimate forecast by GM is significantly below what they believe the actual numbers will be....in the hopes of looking better to stakeholders later this year. I could be wrong, but that is my contention, and so I do not see the lower potential subs. However, I do agree with you on penetration, going after more is a no brainer for them.

sl62 and the rest of the regulars,
Don't let some bad apples spoil the whole barrel. All of you provide alot of valuable information and opinion on all things SIRIUS. As an investor in the company since before Stern was announced, who has made money, lost money and still maintain enthusiasm for the company and the stock, and who is relatively new to posting here, I can honestly say that all the information I get here is of some value. It helps me to know who the enemy is with regard to this company, a company that I truly believe is about to turn the corner for good. Anyone who is angry about SIRI should not have been investing in it in the first place........there have been nothing but opportunities for the past several years to make money....increase your stake if its your desire, and to lower your cost average....which I myself have done to the tune of .22 cents a share. If ANYONE is seriously (no pun intended)down with this stock, they need no more than to look in the mirror to see who is to blame!
Thanks Tyler for this article. I only wish they did a better job of informing users of this equipment about the capabilities. These are the areas that need to be explored and exploited for future growth and stability. I'd like to see some more partnerships develop.....maybe with Microsoft and the Zune player......or something along those lines. The ties to the Auto industry are the bread and butter.....but they need to leverage capabilities by branching out into other mobile and easily portable devices besides their own specific SatRad equipment. Just my humble opinion.
Think you are dead wrong on the money for refinancing angle. True that lots of supposedly"better" companies are paying a premium for their debt refinance.....but it's also true that those "better" companies continue to refinance the same debt over and over again....with very little change in the bottom line. That isn't the case with Siri...they are on the edge of actually being profitable and getting rid of that debt in a reasonable amount of time. I would have to believe that one of the big houses is looking to take advantage of that fact....especially in the current business climate!
Well folks......not sure what to make of all the negativity here. What I do know is that the stock is fighting off being dragged down even further. We've seen that for a couple weeks now. GM is not going to be allowed to fail, Ford is going to survive...and so are all of the Foreign Auto Companies. Based on these FACTS...I am a glass 1/8 full kinda guy toward Sirius. I don't see how this company will fail, even with all the bad news, it really has no business being where its at currently. I own the stock, and I have made and lost money on it...so I can't complain. The only guarantees in life are death and taxes. Still think the company needs to look outside the Auto industry for expansion of customers and partner up with someone, but if you look at the bottom line.....the synergies of the combined company are going to turn it into a profitable venture. That's my humble opinion....and I am sticking it out, and buying more at every opportunity.
Sirius' Future Looks More Promising Than Ever [View article]
I'd like to see some news about partnering up with a NON Automotive entity here in the short term. That is the avenue they need to look down now. Of course they will always be tied into cars.....but it's time to really explore the possibilities as well. Let's see them do something with RIM and the Blackberry....or something along those lines! I think that is a possibility, or an opportunity for both companies that would work and help both, by giving Blackberry something to put up against the IPhone and give SIRIXM soething other than Cars and their own unique sattelite devices to play and expand to.

Well, I am riding this bad boy to wherever it goes! I was standing pat for a while.....but am now putting my money where my mouth is....I am buying more to lower my cost basis, and just re activated my XM subscription at $399 for a lifetime subscripton! Not a bad deal if you ask me...although I am tempted to question where they expect to pull in new dollars if they are offering life subscription to the XM service for $399, other than the ala carte add ons from Sirius like NFL, Howard etc. Also, why aren't they advertising the Lifetime subscription to XM more? I would think that could tempt ALOT of folks to purchase both equipment and subscriptions.

Heck of a battle here toward the 3 o clock hour. Someone seems determined as all get out to push down this SP....;..unfortunately for them...it's not really working....so far!

just waiting,
Don't think anyone has forgotten.....also don't think it's nearly enough. Audiovox is good for SIRI/XM specific devices. The growth of this company needs to be tied into shared applications with existing and new equipment being developed in order to not pidgeon hole itself by forcing subs into purchasing user specific equipment just for SATRAD. In that way..they can grow the subscriber base much larger.
