  • Apple's Huge Ecosystem Blunder [View article]
Everyone "knows" Apple's blunders. But they have a math algorithm that includes all the marketing aspects of the world and so they pick the best path to $$$ success. For example, where to bank the huge returns without paying taxes.

  • Barclays New Leveraged ETNs vs. the Competition: Different Strokes for Different Time Frames [View article]
While Fisher Investments includes FIGY, I don't think these Barclay offerings are investment grade instruments. The main investments in retirement portfolios are company stocks and legislation should prevent outside non-company synthetic ilk, as well as high frequency trading.

GE had no income in 2009! Would John H.H. pay taxes without income?

  • Why Is The SPDR Gold Trust In A Free Fall? [View article]
The SEC needs to stop high frequency trading by requiring a holding period of more than a minute, so INVESTORS can invest for their retirements with some feeling of assurance. No more skimming investors at will.

  • Foxconn has begun production of an iPhone 5S (AAPL) that looks much like the iPhone 5, claims Japanese blog MacOtakara, which has a mixed track record (I, II) with iScoops. MacOtakara also reports NTT DoCoMo (DCM) has slashed Android phone orders for the fall, which is fueling speculation an iPhone deal is on the way. Jefferies' Peter Misek argued last month preparation for March iPhone 5S production could be responsible for new iPhone order cuts. Possible/likely suppliers: CRUS, OVTI, SWKS, TQNT, AVGO, QCOM, BRCM, NTE, MFLX, LPL. (yesterday[View news story]

  • A dispute between an Indiana farmer and Monsanto (MON) over soybean seeds will be heard next week at the Supreme Court. At issue is how long MON can claim patent protection for its genetically engineered seeds, but it isn't just the agriculture world that's nervous about the outcome. Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple (AAPL) have filed briefs saying a ruling against MON would "eviscerate" their patent protection. [View news story]
That is silly nonsense, mr vwahby. Each silly comment by people who never broached biochemistry, toxicology, horticulture, agronomy, and hydrology indirectly causes malnutrition and death due to LACK of food.

  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK) has won the latest round in its global IP battle with Apple (AAPL) after Judge Lucy Koh ruled that the Korean company didn't willfully breach some  Apple patents and therefore left last summer's $1.05B jury verdict intact. Koh could have tripled the amount Samsung would have had to pay if she had found Samsung's actions to be willful, as the jury actually did. Koh also denied Apple and Samsung requests for a new trial. [View news story]
As a UCCE agricultural field researcher and advisor and author of a book "Grower's Weed Management Guide" for California's growers of over 250 irrigated crops, the agricultural media was pleased to use our research updates between 1961-1990. Now retired in Seattle I find no one in Seattle knows how stellar the growers are, so the media journalists can lay anything about food on urbanites and they say, "Yes, yes" So these commentaries are very important.
[Disclaimer: I own AAPL] Apple won over Samsung who copied, as are now hundreds of other foreign companies. Go GMOs! and feed folks who eat.

  • Billionaire Steven Cohen's Q1: High Conviction Sells Of Apple And Baidu And Other Tech Bets [View article]
An in-and-out hedge fund, and using High Frequency Trading, can get back in in an instant. These make stock market investors a dying breed. We should have a separate category-for investors only-which do not allow hedgers to get into and skim.

  • General Electric: Genuine Risk of Collapse? [View article]
Stocks are not a suitable investment. Shorting is the problem with computerized quantitative methods by hedge funds doing in the folks who may be still in stocks. Many have, of course, left.
