  • Equinix Q4 Earnings Forecast [View article]
Will be interesting to see how the market reacts (if at all) to earnings call. Will also be interesting to hear if banks are outsouring more these days. One final thought - will recent reduction in price of oil benefit Equinix?

Very well researched insight into the current state of the colo industry. Will be interesting to see how Savvis numbers are received when they report later today. Equinix reports next week and I'd expect their numbers to rock. Equinix is at same market cap as 3 years ago despite throwing off massive amounts of cash and rapidly consolidating its position as the 800lb gorilla in this space.

  • Equinix 3Q Results: Vade Retro, Recession [View article]
False profit is correct when he says Equinix provides incentive stock to its employees, although I understand awards are now much less than in earlier years. This is no different from most other companies. However, not sure about the burnign through cash comment. Equinix raises money through both debt and equity oferings to fund its expansion, which in turn throws off huge amounts of cash. Equinix is the 800lb gorilla in colo and the service sells itself. No other company comes close and given market conditions, the difficulties in raising finance, the sheer amount of $ needed to build state of the art data centers, etc. Equinix will be in pole position for a long time to come. Not sure if you noticed all the analyst buy recommendations after the recent call - how many other companies got buy recommendations lately? Finally, given the massive amount of non cash depreciation, EBITDA is the only meaningful metric by which to measure Equinix.
