  • Prospect Capital: How Secure Is The 12% Dividend Yield? [View article]
I can't help myself; I enjoy Motown music, and I am a long-term Main Street Capital investor. It is one of my four top favorite stocks. CTWS, RHI and SLP are the others. Did you know that Pat Boone recorded on a Motown subsidiary? (Melodyland). I cannot add anything worthwhile to the PSEC discussion.

  • Update: Simulations Plus, Inc. Earnings [View article]
I agree with you, Mr. Porter, and recently invested in SLP. The proposed Cognigen acquisition is a fine way to increase SLP's employee count. The combined company should attract more institutional interest in Simulations Plus. This is a small, under-the-radar company that pays dividends, and it provides important tools that help larger firms develop better products.

  • Total Return BDCs For Q3 2014: Part 3 [View article]
I am glad folks like BDC Buzz and others on Seeking Alpha introduced me to Main Street Capital, which on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, announced another monthly dividend increase; seventeen cents per share for the last three months of 2014. Most of my shares are long-term, and I keep dividend reinvesting them.

  • A Diversification Dissertation For Income Investors [View article]
Why should B&H sell any Exxon Mobil? His investment generates dividends from the initial purchase, he has experienced stock splits and increased dividends, he is probably dividend reinvesting, and if he sold any shares, then a tax event would be triggered. The performance of your portfolios is extremely important, but there are at least five things you learn as you age that can erode your wealth: Taxes, Health expenses, Bad credit management, Emergencies, and people who always want your money.

  • Tillys: The Market Is Not Realizing Its True Potential [View article]
This must be a revival of the New Math that I was taught during the Dinosaur Age; 10 negatives equal one positive. Investing in this stock is like running bases backwards. Maybe Amazon could use drones to transport Tilly's too high-priced inventory to its large distribution points, have a Fire sale for Prime Members, rekindle the stores for products more people enjoy, and increase excitement and the brick and mortar traffic. I respect your views, but there are better investments in retail, including The Buckle; it pays dividends.

  • Illinois And California: Similar Challenges, Different Approaches [View article]
I reside in California and enjoy it. There is plenty of road construction, home building and business improvements happening in my state. The weather is generally good, and a person can lead an active lifestyle. California has plenty of problems, but I have a positive outlook on its future. Do not expect a big surge in fracking; we are experiencing a severe drought, and the fracking process uses very large water amounts. While I am not against energy exploration, too much fracking is not practical for California at this time. I have investments in two closed-end Municipal Bond mutual funds which are being dividend reinvested, and include California and Puerto Rico Municipal Bonds. I am also bullish on Puerto Rico. Do you have ten to twenty years? There is much interest in the island. I viewed a Bloomberg segment dated from early June, 2014; Governor Padilla and other business persons outlined growth possibilities and named some of the firms moving to Puerto Rico, with Honeywell specifically shown. I am glad the authors had this article featured on Seeking Alpha, and I always appreciate folks reading my posts.

  • Prospect Capital Is The BDC For Me [View article]
Hello, Mr. Tweed! You mentioned LNCO. Readers, please correct me if this is not true. Investors who have LNCO in tax-deferred IRAs do not have the MLP tax consequences, because LINE is the Master Limited Partnership; LNCO holds LINE shares. One poster mentioned selling MAIN and did well, but in one of my previous posts, I projected what might happen by compounding Main Street Capital's shares over a ten-year period, and I used conservative figures, because although I am drawing conclusions from the past, none of us is able to predict the future. Norman, I enjoyed your contribution. You will do fine.
