Yes the Boeing 787 has damaged the company - but six months after the 787 enters service, quite frankly no one will give a damn how long it was delayed for.
Do you think any of the three current A380 operators (SQ/EK/QF) now care aside from the fact they could have been operating bigger fleets?
Of course not. They got the airplane(s) they ordered.
It will be no different for the 787 and its 50+ airlines that have ordered over 900 of these game-changing airplanes.
If Boeing had "lost credibility" - perhaps someone can rationally explain why orders for the 787 family STILL continue to roll in.
