  • Volatility of Equity World Spreading to Credit [View article]
You could lose (like in 1933 when Federal D. Roosevelt promulgated gold confiscation). Hide your stuff.

  • Sorry Arnold, TARP Can't Be Used to Bail Out the Golden State [View article]
California needs to learn a lesson: you cannot have so many environmental and other regulations and then expect to not have to pay for them.

  • Re-Regulation Rules Look Good, So Far [View article]
The US is regulated to death. Environmental regulations, OSHA, SEC, etc. ad nauseam. How more regulations will benefit anyone except accountants and lawyers is anyone's guess.

The problem with this country is that no one is producing anything of any worth out of the ground like it was back in the days this country became a great nation. Look around you: the gypsum in your drywall, the metal in your chair, the plastic of your keyboard. All that came out of the ground. And now most of it comes out of the ground in Asian countries.

How long do you think these Asian countries will go on valuing the credit of a nation which produces nothing of any real worth?

And how long will you go on tolerating these regulators who tell you that you cannot take something out of the ground because it will "hurt the environment" or it costs too much because you need to hire an army of accountants and lawyers just to find your way thru the byzantine maze of regulations?

Lehman Bros. is a CFR corporate member. No doubt any "incompetence on Judge Peck's account will be rewarded to him by the invisible government.

  • When Bloggers Uncover Ponzis [View article]
It's hard to get the crooks out of power. The whole point of lowering the voting age to 18 and removing the poll tax was so that the politicians would have a steady stream of know-nothings heading to the polls every November. The "McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform" act? Should be called "incumbent protection act."

In the old days, only landowners voted. That's why we had good government in the old days. Because mostly only people who had a vested interest in maintaining good government voted. Sure there were some abuses. But, suppose you have a hole in your boat, and it's leaking. Do you get out your axe and chop up the boat? No, you do some tweaking and hopefully get the hole stopped up. You don't go and change the whole system.

Just be careful you don't replace them with even bigger crooks.

  • Plunge Protection Team Attacks BofA: This Ends Now [View article]
Well, why do people pay millions for pretty paintings? Thousands for a bottle of champagne? They aren't useful for much. Or buy a huge oversized truck when a much smaller vehicle will do? Why do pro sports players get paid so much?

The market is what it is.
