  • How Far The Gold Sell-Off Could Go, And Strategies That'll Save You [View article]
The author put a tremendous amount of work into this. Thank-you! It is brilliant!Given what has happened in the metals market during the past year or two, it might have helped me avoid some losses.

There are big questions out there, though. The economy is still unpredictable, as we are 5 years under a zero interest rate policy and still cannot shake out of the doldrums. Further, it is getting more and more evident that certain institiutions are "meddling" in the precious metals and stock markets, perhaps pushing one market up, while shoving the other market down. If true, we can expect that one market will zoom up to recapture its proper place, while the other market will fall precipitously, if we are in bubble territory, when those institutions lose control. Finally, no currency in the world is backed by anything other that the full faith and credit of the government that prints it. I would hate to have too much currency of any government the day the music stops.

This being said, if the gold market behaves in the future as it has over the past 80 years or so, then this author's strategy will be extremely effective. I wish I knew the answer! Excellent article, Jeffrey Jones! Well done!

  • Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. Reports Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year 2013 Financial Results [View article]
There was nice bump to UVE today and it could be even better tomorrow with this news and if the stock market moves back up from today's losses. This appears to be a very solid company!

  • 70% Chance Silver Will Decline During March-April [View article]
While it will take time and some impressive detective work, more evidence of manipulation is coming out all of the time. I do not have the resources to investigate this. This is out today on Seeking Alpha: http://seekingalpha.co... .

  • 70% Chance Silver Will Decline During March-April [View article]
Compared to the stock market it is very small. Also, when one considers that only a few percent of all Americans have any measurable assets in gold or silver, it is a very tiny market. If one considers inhabitants of thw Earth, those owning gold or silver, other than for jewelry, would be very small.

The gold and silver markets may be small enough for manipulation. If they are being manipulated with paper and futures, eventually we should see the physical metal markets dry up. Also, if U.S. Treasury gold or the gold of other nations, has been leased out to cover shorts or for other speculative purposes (could this be why the Germans cannot get their gold back?) then it is possible that significant manipulation has occured. This manipulation could be catastrophic for us later if it is allowing the Chinese to load up on vastly under-priced gold. A gold-backed renminbi could do the dollar in quite quickly and then we would be in real trouble.

  • "So bonds (TLT, TBT) come out of their coffin and it's not even Halloween," tweets Bill Gross (BOND). "Bernanke says follow the policy rate and we agree. 2016 tightening at the earliest." Treasurys completed one of their biggest two-week rallies in a year last week as Bernanke assured investors the Fed has not yet decided to begin tapering asset purchases. January 2016 Fed Funds futures are pricing in nearly 100 bps of rate hikes between now and then. [View news story]
I doubt that the economy will be strong enough for years - if ever - to stop printing money. I hope that I am wrong, but only an idiot dumps gold when the Treasury is printing $85 billion in curreny each month! Lots of luck to those that believe the dollar will continue to be strong when the FED treats it as it is and our government is acting like trillion $ deficits will be with us as far as the eye can see......

  • Gold will continue to trend toward $1,000 by 2015, Nouriel Roubini predicts. Key reasons: Credit crisis risks have subsided; inflation is under control despite QE; investors crave income-generating assets; the "return to the gold standard" argument is dead. It could happen, but folks have been calling for the death of gold for decades. I do not believe the FED can print trillions of dollars without having some effect down the road. Plus, the dollar will not be strong forever, especially when it is being treated like crap by the people responsible for it. Just make sure that you have the gold and silver you want before the music stops.

  • Gold ETF Sees Its Biggest And First Inflow In 2 Months [View article]
The resaon to own gold is to have money, not make money. Of course, if one can do both, that is a good thing.

  • Far from suppressing the gold price, central bank buying may be propping it up. After a decade of selling, central banks were big buyers in 2011 as ETF demand for the metal slowed. Traditional buying (jewellery) has yet to recover to pre-crisis levels. What happens to gold if official buying slows?  [View news story]
Central banks are buying gold because they know it is worth something. They do not know if the foreign currencies they own - or even if their own currency - will be worth anything once the debt bomb explodes!

  • Gold's Technical Picture Is Broken; Collapse Coming [View article]
Yeah, he did not say anything about the FED or ECB printing trillions of dollars worth of paper. The only way gold tanks is if there is a deflationary collapse. They will not let this happen, as they will lose total control if they do!

Great response, Hammer! Hardly anyone buys gold, but the most are buying bonds.... that will be the next bubble. Holding interest rates at zero for years hoping that the economy will respond is an act of desperation! Golds run is about 10 years and bonds 30! If the folks on top continue to manipulate gold, China and India will put a floor under it and scoop up all they can get! They know gold will be worth something, but the creditworthiness of a country with $16 T in debt is suspect. I would be converting my treasuries to gold right now!

The powers that be are controlling metals prices through ETF's and futures. If they go too far and folks call them on it, the short covering will cause the metals to explode!
