I doubt any city in USA had a chance given the severe visa restrictions and the unpopularity of USA in many of the third world countries. I was surprised to read that Chicago was a front runner. With Rio in the running almost no other city had a chance.

As a former Hussman fund owner, I find that this article hits it right on the button. I made the mistake of expecting large return during a bull run and ending up with a measly 3% return over three years. I think there are less risky alternatives than buying into Hussman.

Given the price of Citi stock, the risk of a small investment like 1000 shares or so is worth it. The payoff if Citi gets its act together will be huge.

Can you really predict what the consequences would have been, it Washington had not interfered and rescued the banks and the auto companies? With a year away from retirement and my 401K down nearly 40%, I feel that the government (both Republican and Democrat) did the right thing.
