  • The Tyranny of the Shareholders [View article]
There is a big difference between insolvency and illiquidity. AIG is illiquid, not insolvant. In addition, take a look at the bigger picture. It is in everybody's interest to have these large companies survive and thrive because the benefit the country as well as supplying jobs. The shareholders have already lost their shirts. Buy the stock and benefit yourself if you don't like what the govt is doing. If you can't beat them, join them. AIG needs a new deal.

  • Greenberg's Chutzpah [View article]
AIG should get the same treatment as Citi. Just because Robert Rubin (Goldman Crony) sits on the board of Citi doesn't mean AIG shareholders should get screwed. Greenberg is right, and he is the lone voice for the shareholders. BTW - who EXACTLY is receiving the collateral from the govt? Why don't you investigate that? What would be your opinion if Goldman was the beneficiary?

  • Why Would Treasury Cut AIG's Interest Payment? [View article]
Confidence in AIG creates Confidence in the markets. The deal is a redo because the 1st deal thought there was a moral hazard to lending money to these institutions. At this point, there is no discussion of moral hazard, so AIG should have the same deal as the banks.
