  • An iTV that likely supports 4K/Ultra HD video is still in the works, sources tell Digitimes, which is very much hit-and-miss with these kinds of reports. Apple (AAPL) is said to be concerned about panel supply, and "banking on LG Display (LPL)" to ramp production in 2H for a late 2013/early 2014 launch - Korean media recently reported Apple plans to shift iPad panel orders from Samsung to LG. Peter Misek reported 2 weeks ago Apple wants a TV with "a display that looks like 4K/Ultra HD but without the super-premium cost." (MG Siegler) (Tim Cook[View news story]

  • The DoD will place an order for 650K iOS (AAPL) devices - 210K iPhones, 120K iPads, 100K iPad Minis, and 200K iPod touches - following the end of the sequester, Electronista reports. The iOS gear will reportedly be used to replace BlackBerrys (BBRY) - the DoD currently has 470K in operation - and would come ahead of the planned implementation of a "platform agnostic" device policy in Feb. 2014. Electronista previously reported the DoD had largely ended BB10 testing due to budget cuts.  [View news story]

  • Apple (AAPL +1.7%) rallies as the Street takes the launch of Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S IV, which has an impressive spec sheet but has seen mixed early reviews, in stride. Apple's sell-side fans are circling the wagons, with Gene Munster comparing the S IV to an 'S' iPhone launch. Nomura is less sanguine: noting the popularity of bigger displays and stating its checks indicate a bigger iPhone won't arrive in 2013, it thinks Samsung could overtake Apple in high-end smartphone shipments this year on the back of 35M-40M S IV and Note sales per quarter.  [View news story]
....598,500 jobs created or supported by Apple in the US !! One would also have to take into account the property holdings, tax receipts etc. created by this company to the benefit of this country.
Long APPL for a long time..............
I'm not overly impressed with the new Samsung semi smart phone!

  • "The Street went from thinking Tim Cook has to provide some revolutionary product to now thinking he won’t even do the obvious things. I think it’s logical they will," asserts Walter Piecyk on CNBC (video), defending his upgrade of Apple (AAPL +1.1%). One of those "obvious" things is a cheaper iPhone, which Piecyk expects will add $11B to FY14 revenue while lowering Apple's gross margin by 200 bps. He sees total FY14 iPhone revenue growth of 15%, with units growing over 30% to 190M (152M high-end iPhones + 38M cheaper ones) and ASP falling below $550 from FQ1's $641.  [View news story]
I like the year over year growth aspects for AAPL...not the minute by minute or week by week sooth saying. The Market acts like Apple is doing nothing yet they are spending billions on R&D, they are building infrastructure world wide and Cook is establishing an incredible and reliable logistics NETWORK.They are creating a bit of distance from Asian sources for a more secure and less expensive product build, whatever that product may be. Apple is not deaf, dumb and blind...they are just not loud and boisterous like most market analysts !!

There is still a very active buy back program going on with Apple and the lower the price the better the return for share holders in the long run. Also, at a certain point (low) the Board and Mr. Cook will be compelled to show some good faith with the a split, increase in div's or a combination there of.

Apple is a three legged stool and wobbly right now. It needs a fourth leg...namely better dividends to give more stability for the long haul.

  • More from Tim Cook: Asked about selling a cheaper iPhone, Cook asserts Apple (AAPL -0.9%) wouldn't release anything it doesn't consider a "great product." Asked about a bigger iPhone, he argues many features matter besides display size. But he didn't seem to rule one out either, stating Apple won't comment on future products rather than dismissing the concept. Cook's criticism of OLED brightness and color saturation has led Universal Display (PANL -4.9%) to spike lower. (live blog[View news story]
Go out and ask Ferrari, Bentley, MBZ...or Rolex to build a cheaper product. Try talking to Samsung's CEO and see how much "real" information about their product ideas you get. Everybody wants it Right Now in this immediate gratification world! Cook and Crew should plod along creating infrastructure and quality products at their own timing and reasonable pace...and Yes, reward the shareholders!!!

  • Apple (AAPL) is indeed thinking of selling an iWatch, both the NYT and WSJ report. Sources claim Apple is experimenting with iOS-based watches made of curved glass, and has discussed the matter with Foxconn. If an iWatch ever arrives, there's a good chance it will use Corning's (GLW) Willow Glass, which was created with bendable displays in mind. Former Apple UI designer Bruce Tognazzini recently predicted an iWatch will arrive, while providing a long list of apps/services it might support.  [View news story]
For those of you that are slow of mind, wit and imagination...try this,

"Siri, I'm lost and injured; tell me the route to the nearest hospital"

    "Siri, Call 911!

Try imagining a small hands free mobile device strapped to your wrist that allows directions, phone calls, images taken and given, weather, traffic warnings while on a bicycle etc. etc. VOICE ACTIVATED...Dick Tracy!!

  • Einhorn's Apple Preferred Stock Dividend Solution  [View article]
...I like the fact that Einhorn's letter and intentions are shaking the tree so that a lot of mean apples fall out! I've been "trading" AAPL since the 1970's and feel that when important issues are brought to light we share holders all benefit. It is time for Apple to treat its's share holders like it manufactures it products; great quality, great value and long term commitment. Get out the vote and let's see some action at the next meeting.......

  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK) has won the latest round in its global IP battle with Apple (AAPL) after Judge Lucy Koh ruled that the Korean company didn't willfully breach some  Apple patents and therefore left last summer's $1.05B jury verdict intact. Koh could have tripled the amount Samsung would have had to pay if she had found Samsung's actions to be willful, as the jury actually did. Koh also denied Apple and Samsung requests for a new trial.  [View news story]
....I am sure it is just a typo but Apple was awarded 1.5 billion, not 105 billion. This was just one small battle in a large and complicated tech global war. Apple won this particular battle but more importantly won future rights of "ownership" when these issues arise again.
Apple products are the best, then there's the rest...

  • More on the iPad Mini: The cheapest model (16GB Wi-Fi) goes for $329. Amazon and Google, sellers of the $199 Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7, are probably breathing sighs of relief. As expected, there's no retina display inside the Mini, but there is an HD front camera and 5MP back camera, and 3G/4G models are offered (they start at $459). Like the iPad 2, the Mini is powered by an A5 processor. Apple (AAPL -2.2%) is selling off. (live blog).  [View news story]
The "Street" has never given Apple the respect it deserves...and they always demand more and more for less and less! Apple is the MBZ , Samsung the Ford and Microsoft the Kia with lots of models in between. Why should Apple ACT like Ford, KIA, or anybody else for that matter? I was sitting in a coffee shop yesterday and there were 5 Apples, 1 Dell and 1 Acer being used....
I own a PC and an IPad2 which travels everywhere with me and is totally reliable each and every trip. The battery lasts and lasts over 8 hrs without any issues.....You get what you pay for!!!

AAPL got a "draw" on Samsung home turf and a "win" in the US...
The cases were mostly symbolic and AAPL came out the clear winner!

SEOUL—A South Korea court on Friday delivered a split decision in its piece of the global legal battle between Apple Inc. AAPL -0.13%and Samsung Electronics Co. 005930.SE +3.03%over mobile computing patents.

A three-judge panel in Seoul Central District Court said Apple infringed two Samsung technology patents, while Samsung violated one of Apple's patents. The court awarded small damages to both companies and said they must halt sales of the infringing products in South Korea
