I guess retailer groups cannot face reality and If there are any Christmas sales this year that should be a surprise. If consumers still have not learned their lesson then let the good times roll again and the credit cards bulge with even more debt as incomes have shrunk dramatically since last year.
I think there may be a little pent up demand for some necessities, but let's not get carried away and think people will really be buying that second 74" flat screen for the bathroom.
When we are even going to count gift cards to grocery stores as Christmas shopping. That sounds pretty desperate to me.

Oh Boy let's replace GM with Google. That should finally make the DOW go back up. Obvioulsy some stocks need to be replaced, but it sure makes comparisons impossible and appears like it is just more manipulation in the end.
You and a few other bloggers may have their heads in the sand and the markets may indeed bounce on optimism that Obama will work a miracle - but in the medium term things will not be bright and a reality check (because none of the real underlying problems can be cured with more debt) will drive the markets into oblivion. Hopefully the market does surge next week so I can short the heck out of it. See no evil, hear no evil, pay no attention to the real world analyst like you always see the glass half full, but this time it is full of urine and you will not be so cheerful when thast reality sinks in..
