What seems new this time around is two things: first,the size of the Fed's commitment to buy mortgage backed securities and secondly, it's pledge to keep it up month after month. What percentage of Freddie and Fannies new loans does that represent? How much is then left over for AGNC, NLY, and all the rest to bid against one another for? What happens when the available supply essentially dries up?

Hi Dave/Adam Thanks for the insightful thoughts about asset allocations for those of us fortunate to have pensions and SS. Access to steady, low risk income streams thankfully permits one to focus more intensely on finding promising dividend growth stocks. Yet , as many here can attest, such efforts will inevitably require considerable and enduring time and motivation. It is what it is.
While all is fine today, i worry about the future. Speaking from personal experience, investing is something my spouse is neither inclined, knowledgeable or prepared to do upon my passing. Have you, or others, had similar concerns and what provisions should be initiated in protecting and supporting our love ones at that time? Jim

I agree. And since the high yield stock is "front loaded", discounting will seemingly work to increase the length of the reported "break even" or cross over point from that reported. Personlly I find the prospects of waiting even the 17 years is already way too long for this 68 year old retired geezer.

Can you please clarify that information a bit more? In both my Fidelity Roth and Fidelity Regular IRA's, I'm allowed only to invest in designated Funds (e.g .Fidelity Contrafund) but, not individual stocks as you apparently do. How is that possible? I'd love to do likewise, but don't know how.
