  • Enterprise Products announces two-for-one stock split [View news story]
Fred, you are right, nothing changes but the costume it wears! Look at Berkshire Hathaway--Buffett doesn't ever split and I think it keeps the playful traders out of the game--who has that kind of money to gamble. Maybe best to let it ride up and up. Any comments?

  • Linn Energy's Acquisition Of Devon Energy's Natural Gas Assets Is A Good Move [View article]
I feel that there exists too much attention to growing distributions when the current distribution is relatively high. Look at Ferrell Gas (FGP). A steady $2.00 dividend and the analysts love to hate it. Good enough for me, I bought in at $16 and it is up to around $27. Company continues to grow and acquire smaller dealers. Sounds like a good investment.

  • Retirement Strategy: How Owning Higher Yielding Stocks Can Offer Greater Income [View article]
Michael, your philosophy is good if it pleases you, but remember if you make $1,000 in one year and blow it on a vacation or some other recreation, you are doing nothing for your future. Planning for retirement is a different idea.

Bought into EPD when it was $25.61, wish I had gone deeper--so much for wishing! Great company.

Excellent, clearly written. While the whole mess is politically-driven, I hesitate to guess the outcome of either pipeline. Nice article. Mr. Clark. Thank you.

  • Enterprise Products Partners: A Valid Alternative To Kinder Morgan [View article]
An excellent stock, we acquired 2,800 shares several years ago at $25.61 and have enjoyed the return and its rise to over $70 in that time frame. Excellent company.

  • Kinder Morgan Management: Have Your Cake And Eat It Too [View article]
Ong, congratulations on a well-written and easy to understand article about some very complex information. My first foray into Kinder Morgan family as I have always invested in EPD, LINE, SDRL, SFL, TOO, NMM, etc., etc.
Nice time to buy KMR and avoid taxes as my CPA advised that I was approaching a jump from the 15% bracket to 25%--not nice.
All the best and keep it up!

  • Linn Energy: Learn To Love 'Boring' [View article]
Jerry, agree with most of your comments, even if $60 is too optimistic, I don't mind as long as the company prospers under good managers and pays a decent dividend.
As to the idea that America is rich in oil and gas which should be sold as the markets come along, esp. places like Japan where the people fear nuclear generation and might welcome paying for our exports.
The only stumbling block I see is the debacle in the White House and Congress exemplified by the XL goofing around until after the elections this November--childish playing with the nation's valuable resources to say nothing about jobs delayed or even lost forever.

Thanks, CF. The way the country is going, the heirs will have many taxing problems. Unless we get some mature business types to clean up our current problems. Looks doubtful though.

Gratian, thanks for the kind remarks. My wife and I have a simple motto:
Save, Save, and Save. You are so right about the CPA, he is paid to protect us and worth his reward.

Rip, maybe I am naive about taxes, but I like Return of Capital as it keeps me from paying tax until I sell. I am an old timer and probably will leave the problem to my heirs. Meanwhile, just building the nest egg bigger.
