  • Navios Maritime Partners' (NMM) CEO Angeliki Frangou on Q3 2015 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Zelde6, good for you, thinking ahead. I recall Aristotle Onasis, didn't he purchase surplus ships after WW2 when nobody wanted them. He made a success out of the whole mess. And, Miss Frangou is a very competent manager and she will very likely find a path upward from the dismal mess that shipping finds itself in today. All the best to you and the other commentators. We hold 11,000 shares and will hold them.

We owned VGR years ago, the only mistake I made was to sell the holding instead of sitting tight and investing more. Live and Learn.

  • Keystone killing adds to cloudy outlook for pipeline companies [View news story]
Dirk, agree with you completely, but the comments I have heard from some very uninformed friends that "pipelines are dangerous" just goes to show that the general public is so misinformed that with the powerful and thoughtless liberal press will only continue to wreck valuable alternatives to railroad and tanker shipments which are vastly more dangerous. Outlook is not good as long as the misinformed hold power.

Bought it at $20.59 years ago when much was just in the planning stage, and happy we did--they should do quite well.

  • Ferrellgas Partners - Poised For Long-Term Growth [View article]
Brent, I have to disagree. The $2.00 dividend or return of capital is stable and reliable. If you buy at the going price, the yield is about 8%, this is a nice return. Not increasing the distribution will allow the company to invest in more asset-producing entities as I think they continue to do.
I'll be very happy to add an 8% per year to my growing portfolio.
