Do you guys in America not believe in capitalism any more? What is wrong with creative destruction? Over leveraged and poorly managed businesses will go bust. Capital will be allocated to the winners and new start ups, rather than propping up losers.
There has been too much debt accumulation and America has been running a just-in-time economy fuelled solely by huge amounts of debt. It has now blown up and the system has to be cleared.

I don't see GBP as a higher yielding currency, we in the UK are headng to ZIRP. The Euro will likely follow. USD strength looks likely to continue as the depression intensifies.
