  • Yes, there was a speculative element in higher commodity prices that may have gotten wiped away this week, but the fall in crude has good fundamental reasons. Emerging markets, the marginal bid for oil, are tightening monetary policy, with several stepping up the hard money rhetoric even more this week.  [View news story]

  • Whatever the practical impact of OBL's death, it opens the door for the Obama administration to declare victory and exit Afghanistan, posits Stratfor. As for reprisals by al Qaeda, if Bin Laden's cover was compromised, one has to wonder how effective the rest of the organization can be.  [View news story]

  • An unexpected surge by the left-wing NDP heading into next week's elections threatens to topple Canada's conservative government. "While the market has all but ignored the election, we could see a significant shift next Monday if these polls are remotely accurate," says BMO's Doug Porter.  [View news story]

I read an article about who's paying for the Royal Wedding...

During it I found estimates of GDP lost due to the event.
    Toronto-Globe and Mail.
"That will be a painful blow for a country that faces a fiscal deficit of $256-billion this year – and, to make matters worse, the wedding falls amid a cluster of other holidays, leaving only three working days between April 22 and May 2. Many businesses are expected to stay shut through the entire 10-day period, a string of lost productivity that could remove $47-billion from economic output, according to an estimate by accounting firm RSM Tenon. "

Gonna cash out next week and sit until October I think.

  • Fannie Mae (FNM) rolls out its Deed for Lease program, allowing homeowners facing foreclosure to deed their property to the lender and stay in their homes as renters. The scheme is only for borrowers who have already missed a mortgage payment, and who aren't eligible for mortgage mods. Fannie's incentive? Buying time for a housing recovery, and preserving the value of its nonperforming assets.  [View news story]

  • Some companies are starting to address credit-rating issues their own way, by selling bonds without ratings at all, in deals that would have been "inconceivable" two years ago. Companies including Highland Capital, Credit Suisse (CS) and European drinks makers Heineken (HINKY.PK) and Gruppo Campari have recently executed successful deals without the ubiquitous alphabetic risk assessments.  [View news story]

  • Cramer: Jon Stewart Interview Was a 'Complete and Utter Ambush' [View article]
This whole thing was created by Bush/Rove/Cheney. The economic mess.

Cramer and Stewart are both entertainers. They both have an agenda.

I woke up to the fact after Stewarts cross fire interview. He tried to do it again about the economy. But, it was a hatchet job.

    Stewart doesn't really care.
