  • There's No Longer A Bernanke Put [View article]
Well, why should the fed folks bother? They will move on to cushy jobs in some wall street firm. Everybody for herself/himself.

  • How A Romney Presidency Could Destroy Alternative Energy Investing [View article]
Fed has the answers for this. By the time this fed is done, oil would have climbed high enough that the alternative energies would become naturally profitable. No need for tax payers to prop them up.

  • The 1.2% dive in industrial production is the biggest decline since the depths of the financial crisis, though 0.3% of the fall is being attributed to Hurricane Isaac. S&P futures add a bit to gains, now +0.3% - maybe in hope the Fed will double QE to $80B/month? [View news story]
Good news is just good news. Bad news is really good as Fed will pump money. Terrible news is terrific as Fed will triple down and move the GDP entirely on its own

  • The iPhone 5 (AAPL -0.1%) is announced. It's 7.6mm thick and weighs just 112 grams - that makes it 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. As expected, it has a 4" retina display (still much smaller than many Android phones), A6 processor (said to be 2x faster than the A5), and 4G LTE support. Apple also boasts the new display delivers better image quality thanks to its use of in-cell touch panels. (live blog) (more[View news story]
a non-event... Is this going to move our GDP by 0.33%? Unlikely. If it happened, it would be a terrible waste of people's capital that could be put to better productive uses...

  • Salesforce.com's Valuation Brings Back Memories Of 1999 [View article]
Agree. The R&D costs are too high with their spring/summer/winter code refresh. Branching out to other areas where there are estsblished players will increase costs that have to be recouped by roping in new customers or cross selling to existing customers. Good product but I will not recommend licensing it as there are cheaper comparable alternatives.

  • It's official, Rochdale's Dick Bove has now completed his 180 degree turn on the market and calls for a year-end rally. Bove, who was originally negative on stocks back in April, now sees the S&P 500 hitting 1555 over the next 12 months. Why the big change? Seasonality, of course. The market reacts quickly to the Fed's seasonal easing and tightening. In September, Bove says, the Fed eases to facilitate the economy's need to pay for the holiday season. "This has driven the market higher in the past and should do so again." [View news story]

In Spring Fed eases so people have the money to buy houses

In Summer Fed eases so people have the money to pay for gas & take vacations

In Fall Fed eases so people have the money for back-to-school sales

In Winter Fed eases so people have the money to pay for all the Christmas gifts

How sweet it is! Who needs god, when we have our trusted Fed to take care of us thru the seasons, year in & year out!

Yup, LNKD has less hype and it offers much better potential real value for an end user. FB is a waste of time for most people who have to work for a living.

  • Jackson Hole: Monetary Policy Under Financialism [View article]
There is no reason for Bernanke to risk his remaining tenure by doing anything different than what he has so far tried to do. Some people see him as a savior so he wants to preserve that and like his predecessor, will keep the wall street banks happy to secure a cushy job later.

  • "It’s a bigger company than just engineers, and we pay the bills," grumbles a Yahoo (YHOO) ad sales employee, upset over Marissa Mayer's overwhelming focus on products and technical talent since becoming CEO. Kara Swisher reports "many in the sales, finance and media side of Yahoo" have similar concerns about Mayer, who hails from engineer-dominated Google. Plenty of sales execs, some loyal to the departed Ross Levinsohn, have recently left[View news story]
Typical 'sales' guy talk. They have had nothing to sell for years. Good products pretty much speak for themselves. No need to hire hordes of sales people. You need them when you have some snake oil to peddle.

  • After the Boston Fed's Rosengren's call for aggressive QE, out trots the Dallas Fed's Fischer to proclaim the central bank has "done (its) job." Unworried about inflation, he still does not see the need to print more money. The Fed needs to avoid the impression it can solve all of our problems, he argues. [View news story]
well, why do that - that is hard, when I can just collect a fat pay check pushing files around and sucking up to boss.
