How Soon Can Apple's Market Cap Surpass Microsoft's? [View article]
I have been using only Macs since 1996, and the last time one of my Macs got infected by a virus was in 1997: the virus was embedded in a Word Office Macro... and it infected our whole department in less than a week. We were running Mac OS 7.6 at the time, and had to install some anti-virus software though the macro virus was the only one ever detected.
All my Macs have been running Mac OS X since 2001, and I never installed any anti-virus software on them and they never got infected. The argument that no one would create a virus to attack less than 10% of the OS market is fallacious because they were a few viruses before OSX was released and the Mac market share at that time was not much better than now.
I'm also sure there are few hackers who would have been proud to be known as the first to create a virus for Mac OS X. Explain to me why this did not happen yet... The only logical reason is that OSX is far more secure than any version of Windows...
