Time for America to Fire First Shot in the EV Revolution

I would absolutely love to see the U.S. convert to electric battery technology from the internal combustion engine. But economics will and always should win the battle of various technologies. We can't be accepting expensive, and poor performing alternatives ever. We would only be digging our own economic grave. We must never lose sight of the fact that when we make such a change the economic ramifications directly affect our international competitiveness, and our future and current standard of living. The environmental benefit has to take a second seat. To do otherwise would only be rewarding mediocrity and stifling future innovativeness that much more.
Battery technology has made some advances but isn't even close to being competitive with the internal combustion engine in cost, infrastructure needed, expense, or range. Its still a joke.
