  • Rumor Says Yahoo's In Play Again; Reality Says Not Likely [View article]
I am an amateur investor; however, personally I find the chorus of selling out Yahoo utterly bizarre. For those shareholders whose interest is in making a fast buck, I would recommend they become day traders in sub-penny stocks, where their insatiable greed appetite would be better satisfied.

Sure, with the current economic slump, advertising revenue is down. But who else isn't being hurt in the present environment?

In my view Yahoo has everything going for it in the near future. They are still the number one in the internet portal application arena. This field is still very young (compared with GE's turbines, GM's SUVs, and you guessed it Microsoft's Windows OS, to name a few).

With its already established international footprint, Yahoo just needs to hire the brightest of the brightest brains in the portal field to move into the next application stratosphere, and be up up and up from there, leaving the competitors in the dust.

As for those "Key" folks who had left and joined Microsoft, in my humble view they will only surely and only find themselves checking into a huge bureaucracy with layers and layers of management in an already "Yesterday's" company. In my humble opinion, what else is new coming out of Microsoft these days? Enhancements, incremental improvements, gimmicks and gadgets on a single product that had passed middle age?

[Disclosure I have never owned and do not now own any Yahoo and Microsoft stocks. This might change in the future though]
