You are quite right - the Canadian Dollar was unjustly low at the beginning of the year trading at ~ 80 cents to the U.S. Dollar. Traditionally, it would be more comfortable trading in the 90 cents range. At the current rate of ~87 cents as of today it does look like that it is on its way.

Yes, I kind of concur with Football Geek's view. The Canadian Dollar now at ~ 0.83 to the US Dollar is somewhat undervalued. Without its massive federal deficit like the U.S.'s the loonie's fundamental is quite strong. In all I believe that it will soon return to its "Traditional" mark of ~ 90 cents to the USD - a fair value.
