  • Help the Housing Market with a Buyback Program [View article]
There should be no more bailouts period. If a bank is destined to fail let it fail. If they have outstanding loans, let them be written off. The people who have them loans are off the hook, They are issued the deed to their house free and clear. No more mortgage payments means they have plenty more $ to spend every month. The economy would start to turn around and the people whos bank didn't fail would probably be able to afford their mortgage once the market turns around. Yes it wouldn't be fair to everyone. some people would get their house for for free and others would still have to pay. But if thats what it takes to turn the market around so be it. I don't care how big a bank is, if they made bad business decisions they should fail. Their debts should fail with them, another bank should not be allowed to buy their debts at a discount unless the discount is passed on to the homeowner.

  • GM Must Die [View article]
I have a 99 ranger that I have owned since '01. Untill recently, the only problem I have had with it was a cheap plastic sensor on the rear diff. $23 dollars to fix. More recently, at 185,000 miles I had an internal gear shred off that required the motor to be rebuilt. I would say that one minor problem up to 185,000 miles is a quality built car. I rebuilt the motor and plan to drive this truck another 185,000 miles.
We need to keep the American auto manufacturers in business. In order to do that, we have to get rid of the unions.
Or else we will all be stuck with foreign cars that cost $2300 just to change the spark plugs.

I know, I had a mitsubishi Eclipse The quote from the dealer for the 60,000 mile tuneup was $2300 for 6 sparkplugs and an air cleaner. I traded it in that day on F-250.

  • Should We Really Bail Out the Big Three Automakers with $73.20 Per Hour Labor?  [View article]
CNG is not the answer. CNG is just another nonrenewable resource. Yes it is domestically produced, but is not the answer. We need something new, something that is renewable. Hydrogen fuel cells, electric, compressed air. Anything but fossil fuels.

I agree that failure of the big3 would be devastating to the economy as whole. When the government bails them out, and they will. There needs to be major strings attached. The #1 most important string----
The complete end of the unions, Every state needs to be a right to work state. If an employee doesn't perform they are out on their butt, and new employee that is willing to work twice as hard is hired.
No unions means someone has to prove their worth to a company. Show that they are willing to go that extra mile to help the company make more money, and in return they earn a raise. Union workers don't earn raises, they extort raises by going on strike. No unions, no strikes. Right to work state, you go on strike your replaced with someone who is more than eager to take your job and be completely happy with it.

One more thing i forgot to add

sometime in the late 80's or early 90's GM had working electric car that averaged around 170 mile per charge. Now they have the VOLT that gets 40 miles to a charge
they couldn't make any money on service. so they trashed the the prototypes (sent them to the crusher)
If they would have continued that project they would probably have the #1 selling car in the world right now.

BUT GREED GOT IN THE WAY

    DOWN WITH UNIONS

I say do away with the unions
I bust my butt everyday delivering drywall the average house take about 7 tons of drywall. Myself and 1 helper stock 5-6 houses a day.
I have a CDL license and make $11 an hour.
I am more than happy to have a job in this economy right now.
Get rid of the unions drop everyones pay by half and they can lower the cost of the cars they produce and be more competitive
Why should I have to pay more taxes so some idiot with pneumatic driver can run a few bolts into a bumper every day. Sissy work for $27 to $37 an hour.
Try moving 30 tons of drywall everyday, then tell me you how "hard" you work
