Memo to Automakers: Follow Cisco's Lead [View article]
Another absolutely inane article from the Seeking Alpha group of "analysts". The only inteligent thing in the article was his admission that he "don't know much about the auto industry". Come to think of it, even that was wrong. He doesn't know ANYTHING about the auto industry. Way to go Seeking Alpha.
At least Mr Newman got a few facts correct in this article. Messrs Nardelli and Mulally are both new to their companies, less than one new product cycle. The "off with their heads" crowd are clueless. Those clamoring for "a plan" don't seem to realize that these are three competing companies in the private sector with different problems and approaches to fixing their particular problems. In the case of Ford, at least, Mr Mulally has laid out a very specific plan to bring the company back to sustainable profitability, but no one in Washington seems to know or care. The only thing more disheartening than the poor performance of the three CEO's before Congress, was the childish grandstanding by Senators and Congressmen.
I agree with tired of your bs. The writers (I can't call them analysts as they constantly demonstrate that they have done little or nothing to understand what it takes to run an auto company nor do they have a grasp of what the auto makers are doing today to recover from their current financial crisis) would be better off writing about McDonalds or Starbucks, companies whose complexities they might be able to get their minds around.
