I am the webmaster for lasik.md - a consumer information site. What the article did not mention, but is well known in the industry, is that LASIK volume follows the consumer confidence index almost exactly. When consumer confidence rises, so will procedure volume. The 2000 peak corresponded with the peak in confidence with the Internet stock bubble and of course was before 9/11.
