As a video online specialist who has developed in both Adobe( flash/flex ) and Microsoft( silverlight ) I have to decide which tool is best for presenting video on the web. Player penetration and technical debt are usually the determining factors. When the flash player is on 98% of computers vs. silverlight which is on 1 out of 4 computers you might have access to it is really hard to convince a client why they should use a different platform. It is proven that ActionScript and MXML are much easier to develop and maintain then a application which are usually dependent on a plethora of languages such as IronPyhon, C#, .NET, ASP .NET, Javascript, AJAX, XAML, LINQ, Visual Basics. While it is great it supports all these approaches and combination's of languages and technologies it also makes the project require more man hours and also also developers.
