  • Financial Bailout Remains a Work-in-Progress, Chaos-in-Motion [View article]
It appears that a new era of common sense banking should be ushered in along with the bailouts or we will never climb out of this hole. Transparency, quality and adherence to rules and structure should be the rule of the day.

  • Why Did Warren and Hank Invest in Goldman? [View article]
The money given to Goldman Sachs was a "bailout" not a "handout". Neither was it Venture Capital so they could try out different business models. The purpose of the bailout was to specifically ensure they did not fail. IF GS is trying new things and gimmicky ones at that, is leveraging our bailout and using it, not in the way it was intended. Who is regulating this? It is an awful lot of money for free spending and the tax payer is going to pay. Bad business all around.

  • GM Headed to Zero, With or Without the Pelosi Bailout [View article]

The idea that a responsible management team will be put in place to manage GM in a post bailout scenario is unrealistic at best. Just think AIG.

"socialist-type interventions in private businesses have never proven to create sustainable and verifiable shareholder value."

Agreed, and if that is a universal dictum, then, the socialist style bailouts being applied in the US today are money down the drain. The true rating offered by savvy CDS traders may be more realistic than others. Caveat Emptor.
