  • Qihoo (QIHU -1.1%) and Nokia (NOK +2.1%) will partner to offer a custom phone for the Chinese market, a source tells Marbridge Consulting. Qihoo, which could integrate its browser, antivirus software, and search engine with the phone, is no stranger to partnerships with phone OEMs. Neither is rival Baidu, which is teaming up with Lenovo to offer a phone leveraging its Android-based OS. Nokia, whose Chinese sales have plunged, just launched the Lumia 920T and 620 for China Mobile. [View news story]
After one month waiting, I finally got my Lumia 920. As a Chinese, I immediately try turn on the Chinese lauguage. The chinese input method is greatly improved comparing Lumia 900. It even has handwriting input. It means even if you could not pronouce the word, you still could manage to input Chinese character. I believe Chinese user would be happy with 920T, and Lumia 620 would have big audience. So iphone, windows, android would all have ecosystem in future mobile market. Android has high, middle, low end. windows has high, middle level while apple only has high end. For Nokia, it has s40 as low level phone. So future competition would be still between Nokia and Samsung. While Apple would be high end player. Long Nokia

  • No Longer Negative On Nokia [View article]
Offline map with car navigation feature is a killing application in Nokia lumia windows phone. Here in Finland, many people chooses Lumia because they do not need GPS anymore. Map could be updated free with car voice Navigation feature. No roaming fee for Europeans also.

  • Nokia: It Is Time To Buy This Severely Undervalued Stock [View article]
I already commented in other thread that Nokia and Microsoft would be 3rd choice for consumer driven by operators. The most important is that Nokia and Microsoft has already show their strength in Lumia series, especially 800 and 900. If you look at how excellent Lumia 800,900 hardware, plus Navigation, office, skydrive software. Nokia and Microsoft alliance would show their muscle in the coming years.

  • Checks indicate demand for Nokia's (NOK -5.2%) Lumia 920 is "solid" at AT&T, but well behind demand for the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III, says Raymond James' Tavis McCourt, who reiterates an Underperform. Moreover, McCourt thinks commentary from AT&T reps about the 920 "was very similar to the April launch of the Lumia 900, but with a lot more supply issues." He adds the 900 was on Amazon's top-10 bestseller list for 2 months, and that HTC and Samsung's Windows Phone 8 models also face supply problems. (previous: I, II, III[View news story]
It is said(rumor) that microsoft permit final version just before a couple of days before launch. That's why Nokia, HTC and Samsung are all short of supply.

I am long for Nokia. One thing I shall point out: This time, Nokia is going to take China Mobile as partner in China, not China Telecom. China telecom has Chinese low margin users, such as students. China mobile almost dominates high end mobile user market. There is no TD-SCDMA iphone. Nokia is going to make TD-SCDMA standard Lumia 920. And it is going to launch in China soon. This is huge difference and potential. China mobile has largest user base in the world, if I remember correctly.

Second, I remember Lumia 800 is first in European market, while Lumia 900 is in U.S market when Nokia launch window 7.5 phone. Lumia 800 is not as successful comparing Lumia 920 in Europe.

Third, Lumia 7.5 phone is not selling well due to Microsoft windows 8 OS does not support hardware of Lumia 900 and 800. That's the main reason Lumia window 7.5 sales shrink.

My view is that iOS, Android and windows will all have their eco system. Nokia will play a dominant role in window ecosystem.

  • Nokia: Windows Phone Success In China Should Not Be Ignored [View article]
Nokia's quality is proved again by my personnel experience. I do not why, I notice Lumia 800 screen is dirty, then I washed screen just by water from tap and even with some shampoo. After that, I made a call, the other end said my voice quality is so poor and voice level is so low. I put Lumia 800 into oven for 50-100 degrees for 5 minutes, then the phone works again.

What a quality of Nokia Lumia phone is!

It is said or according to analyst, Lumia series has to sell above 13 million per quarter, then come to break even point. But that's analyst says. Only Nokia Financial department know the real break even number.

I am long for Nokia. A couple of month ago, analyst are talking Nokia bankruptcy. Now they are talking about Nokia is going to lose money. I estimate a couple of month later, they are all going to raise Nokia target. Analyst are behind of the trend of stock price.

If you want to earn money, there is thumb of rule, (not 100% correct), buy when everyone sells, sell when everyone buys.

I bought nok from Eur 3 down to Eur 2, my average price is 2.43 Euro. It is still above break even point.

  • Lumia 900 Ain't Enough To Save Nokia [View article]
People are in a big hurry/expect too much to see a new ecosystem growing. When iphone 1st generation in the market, it is only a couple of millions. When android first in the market, it is also a couple of million. windows pick up, it starts 1 million, then 2 million, then tens of millions. Also at the same time, when iphone first in the market, one could see a lot of iphone are returned to repair center. Now windows phone bug are really small quantity. Give microsoft and Nokia a little bit more time, I see a big upwards potential.

I am a nokia stock owner, but really small or trivial.

  • Goldman Sachs And Morgan Stanley Are Backing The Truck Up For Nokia Shares [View article]
In Finland, I ordered a Lumia 920 in 8th of Nov. At that time, web page says delivery start 22th of Nov. Today is 30th of Nov, I went to Elisa shop to ask about the estimation of delivery, the sales persone even could not give me an exact date and just told me to wait for it. And he said it happens to others also and it is a general problem.

You are probably waiting to see what will happen in Chinese market. In HK, it is number 2 and number 6. HTC windows phone is number 10. Windows phone seems to be successful in China also.

  • Nokia (NOK) is seeking to block the sale of most RIM (RIMM) products in the U.S., Canada and U.K. through the enforcement of the ruling of an arbitrator, which found in favor of the Finnish company in a dispute over patents related to its wireless local access network (WLAN) technology. The arbitrator, the firm says, ruled that RIM is "not entitled to manufacture or sell WLAN products without first agreeing royalties with Nokia." [View news story]

I strongly believe Lumia 920 has better position and potential than Lumia 900 and 800. When Lumia 900 and 800 are launched, people does not know what's Nokia window phone advantage. Later, they know mainly offline map. Lumia 920 has better features, such as image, map (drive and pedestrian), office,. In Chinese grey market, Lumia 920 is highly demanded.

The other thing one shall not forget Lumia 900 missed Christmas season while Lumia 920 is not.

Analyst tends to compare with history. If everything is predictable, there is no surprise.

I am long Nokia. I read several your articles if not dozen. They are really good. What about those bug lists in Lumia 920 published in some web portal. Have you analyzed their negative impact on Christmas sales? What about Nokia Here application in iOS?

  • Lumia 900 Ain't Enough To Save Nokia [View article]
Nokia window phone 900 or 800, 710 all have free offline map navigation feature which could save Europeans money when they travel across the board. I feel it is a killer application. European would like it. As reported, windows phone in Europe begin to pick up. It is time to see Nokia shares up. To be honest, I am a small Nokia share owner. I see Nokia and microsoft partnership makes a lot of sense in the industry. It gives operator third choice.
