  • Is This Market Ford's Next Growth Driver? [View article]
I'm long F and the recent stagnation in the stock's positive momentum is frustrating. Especially given the consistent positive earnings and product reviews.

It seems to me that Mr. Mulally's departure has been priced into the current share price. Perhaps that is only wishful thinking on my part.

  • My Take On Ford's Results And Mr. Mulally's Future [View article]

I am long both Ford and Microsoft.

It is frustrating to see F stagnate, and worse, drop after one good news story after another. This has to me always been a difficult stock to trade. I think one of the reasons is there are so many shares outstanding which results in the retail investor community having little enfluence on the day to day pricing action.

On MSFT, I do not believe ( maybe wishfully) that Elop will take the CEO position. Instead, Elop will command the mobile division - the Nokia smartphone division. I do hope Mullaly takes over at MSFT, but somewhat skeptical as he is getting up there in age. In any case, Ford has a succession plan and Mullaly has achieved what Ford asked of him.

So back to Ford and recent share price erosion - I think consolidation is taking place as fund managers reposition for the end of the year. Speculation over Mullaly is likely the excuse . My view is once formally addressed ( again) the stock price will return to the mid $17's and begin an agonizingly slow advance to $18.5 to $19 by the end of the year. Again, this is a doomsday stock for a day trader . It's pretty much a good story stock for the patient long term investor .

I added to my position under $17 on a Friday as a swing trade around my core but am very realistic about this frustrating snail of a stock. In the short term, we may see the stock drop further to the $16.50 range. Further than that and I will have to reevaluate.

  • Why Did Facebook Investors Get Scared? [View article]
Thanks, good article ! Investors overreacted to the potential drop in teen subscribers. This should not be of great concern as teens generally do not buy what the advertisers are selling. Frankly, I believe FB should require ssubscribers to be 18 years of age anyway.

  • Johnson & Johnson: Let It Dip To A 3% Yield [View article]
I've been long a few shares of JNJ for several years. Seems to be hitting resistance again at current $92/93 range, what's your speculation on it breaking $95 in the next quarter ? My gut is we will see high 80's again before high 90's. It's almost a swing trade around a core position, buy at $87 and sell at $92, then repeat.

  • Earnings Preview: Facebook Q3 2013 [View article]
If you sold Apple or Google in their early stages everytime earnings were about to be reported....enough said.

FB has a huge subscriber base- so what if it drops $10 or $15 a share in the short term if over the long haul if it goes up to $500 share in 3 years.

  • Why Yahoo's Content Strategy Will Probably Fail [View article]
YHOO will be trading higher in one year, with or without Alibaba. My assertion holds as much water as the negative posters.

Don't see too much of a market for CMG food in China. I'll stick with YUM.

  • VXX or VIXY: Note, Fund, Or Stupid? [View article]
Good article, wish I had seen it earlier. Traded in the VXX the other day at $14.20 a share (long) without really understanding the "vehicle". I did a little more research and concluded I was even more confused and decided after hours the same day to "unwind" my position and someone snatched them right up at my entry price. Out a few bucks for the transaction cost, but in hindsight now that it's dropped to around $13.58 it was a good decision. Luck more than skill was on my side and it turned out to be an inexpensive lesson.

  • Bearish Catalysts Mounting: How I'm Positioning [View article]
Very informative comments !! I'm interested in playing a little with the VXX, perhaps it's early to go long. Then again, for certain no one knows what the future holds.

How well does the VXX hedge the DOW and SP ?

  • Bearish Catalysts Mounting: How I'm Positioning [View article]
Thanks for the article ! I am sometimes humored by those that discount views due to a lack of more substantive analytical support. Since when do "markets" consistently move on such substantive support? However, "markets" do consistently move based on the prevailing psychology of the investment community.

We are now approaching the 52 week highs of the major averages. My unsubstantiated 2 cents is there will be an opportunity to buy in long at lower prices, meanwhile may not be too bad an idea to hedge a little. Or at least maintain "dry powder".

  • Nokia Gets Ready To Board The Windows RT Pain Train [View article]
    Long NOK.

Nokia is progressing on the mobile phone front, especially on the low end smart phone market ( 520).

It is a good move to go into the tablet market and we will see a continued rise in share price. MSFT is solid and NOK as a partner is putting out good hardware.

  • Can Microsoft Reorganize Itself To Success? [View article]
Microsoft is on the right track with W8 and the Windows based phones, especially from Nokia are gaining acceptance.

Cross platform utility is beneficial and it will take time.

The smartphone that replaces my IPhone will be a Nokia.
