You fail to mention the large amount of U.S. government subsidies currently in place that make $2.00/gallon gas plausible. I assume your costs do not assume any subsidies. In addition, I believe that over the next 10 to 20 years, and probably sooner with Obama, there will be an effort to include the true cost (including environmental impacts) of fossil fuel burning in the retail price.
