The German team won the solar house competition on the mall in D.C. with SunPower on the roof. At least one of the other teams used SunPower as well. It was interesting to see whose products were on these houses. I looked at the information on Renewable Energy World, where you can go to watch some of the videos and look at some of the results.

Just think if the power delivered in Afghanistan were solar rather than fossil. We would not have had to look at kids with their legs blown off in the news. You take explosives into dangerous situations, and guess what you get? I suppose I'm baiting thumbs-down by saying this, but I can't help it anyway. I'm a confessed do-gooder who does not understand why we don't use our heads to win hearts and minds.
What's more Abu Dhabi still has a few bucks to burn and rather good solar exposure.
I'm long STP and SunPower. I have looked with very covetous eyes on those STP clear panels. So far, the thrifty part of me is winning over the style wanna-be, but my inner stylin' freak keeps jumping up and down and being distracting, so nothing's happened yet.

What I'm looking at is the ones they do own: STP and SPWRA, for example, which I also own. It seems likely they don't see quick earnings in this market, and they are back into fossils, betting on a run-up. Production capacity has been scaled back so much in that sector. If demand picks up, prices will rise. I won't act on this for myself, but I understand the logic. A worry about foreign stocks is xenophobia rising. I rather doubt that will happen concerning clean-tech, since clean-tech seems to be fading on the radar. Policies of Brazil and China are getting them some good public attention, in relation to behaviors of our congress. I do not believe U.S. corporations want to lose access to markets in Brazil and China. While they defend themselves from confiscation, I don't think they will want congress to start trade wars. They may bust their off-shore operations into outsourcing arrangements, especially where they like and trust their off-shore partners more they they trust the U.S. federal government. Anyway, that seems logical to me. Shoot away if I'm not seeing all the variables.

From what I hear in the industry, installers like SunPower products. The installers in the U.S. and can put political pressure on assorted congresscreatures. To me, this gives SunPower an advantage, and I own it. Installers tend not to like callbacks. I'm in Suntech because they sell all over the world and are not limited to here, though they have partners here. If the Chinese government starts losing its own family members to pollution in high enough numbers, they may start incentivizing installations there. I don't have much in these companies, but I want to watch solar because I like the micro-grid concept as well. I like the idea of a distributed grid where human or Great Whatever can't cause havoc by knocking out a big wire somewhere, and I think micro-grids are just coming. I would rather be in the engine and not in the caboose.

I appreciate the analysis.
