Astellas Proposes to Acquire CV Therapeutics for $1Billion [View article]
I'm fairly ignorant about pharms (which is why I'm buying a smidgen - a good excuse to learn more when my own money's on the line).
Seems to me that CVT describes itself as focusing on the "development and commercialization of new small molecule drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases."
Much of the commentary about the Pfizer/Wyeth deal has focused on Wyeth's pipeline for vaccines and "large molecule drugs", which are supposedly harder to replicate after patent expiration and thus should have some protection from generics. Do you buy that tale?
