  • Apple: Soon A Member Of The $1,000 Club? [View article]
I'm never going to hold AAPL through an earnings report again. Burned once again by selfish manipulators. Record earnings does not justify an 8% drop
Very very evil to steal the savings of small investors throgh manipulation. So disgusted with stock market BS.

Good advice Autarch. I'm not all that emotional about it.
I just know that Apple could handle things better than this. I think the share price would be way up with better decisions from a shareholder friendly CEO.

Theyv'e been doing billions of dollars in buy-backs already and it didn't save us a dime. Almost 50% loss from late last year. Did that buy-back help you or them? My money is gone but their's isn't.
Al Gore got his $377 million dollars. My $10,000+ loss ought to at least give me a right to an opinion on this.

  • Apple's New Pitch To Investors [View article]
Tim Cook claimed to be figuring out how to return Apple's excess cash to shareholders. Everyone expected a decent dividend increase. Instead, Apple skimped on the dividend, increasing it to a wimpy 3.05 per share and then announced a 58 billion dollar increase in buying back their own stock. It feels like they changed the plan from giving shareholders a reward for their loyalty to giving themselves a reward instead.

I once worked for a company who canceled the annual 2% wage increase and soon after bought a new telephone system instead with the money they saved by not increasing wages 2%. This stock buy-back instead of a dividend increase feels like the same kind of self-serving crap to me.

Stopping the video if you avert your eyes.. I don't like the sound of that. I wouldn't want to have to keep my eyes glued to the screen to avoid having the video halt. Is it optional? If not, that feature sounds like a negative to me.

  • "The Street went from thinking Tim Cook has to provide some revolutionary product to now thinking he won’t even do the obvious things. I think it’s logical they will," asserts Walter Piecyk on CNBC (video), defending his upgrade of Apple (AAPL +1.1%). One of those "obvious" things is a cheaper iPhone, which Piecyk expects will add $11B to FY14 revenue while lowering Apple's gross margin by 200 bps. He sees total FY14 iPhone revenue growth of 15%, with units growing over 30% to 190M (152M high-end iPhones + 38M cheaper ones) and ASP falling below $550 from FQ1's $641. [View news story]
Thanks Vegas and wiesje. I got into AAPL because I thought it was the best stock to be in., My timing was just a touch off. hehehe

I'll check into it wiesje. Thanks much for the info. Sounds interesting. I've gotta do something different. My retirement fund is cut in half now (not just from APPL losses but CAT, DE, NOK and others too). I worked so hard for that money and now it's gone and I am too old to start over.

Grandpa's gunna be living in a cardboard house in the bushes someday soon if I don't stop investing in the stock market the way I have been. :o(

I have been buying more shares all the way down from $640. Adding more shares at each new lower level. I've been waiting for so long to get some value back. I have stubbornly held onto my stock while all the hedge funds were selling theirs. I was only going to sell for the day to see how much damage the S4 caused, then buy back in this morning but I woke up too late and now the share price has jumped up $10 higher than I sold it for yesterday. It all seems so unfair! I need a window to jump out of but I live on the first floor. argh

    Are you always like this?
I've held AAPL until now thousands of dollars are gone from my savings. Today the share price went up without me because I was sleeping and didn't get back in. What a sickening thing to wake up to... Share price moved back up without me and hateful posts like yours.

Thanks for your thoughts on it. I hate being out right now. I have lost so much money on AAPL in the last 6 months that I feel like I need to be in it just to get my money back but hopefully there will be another entry point.

The whole market has me nervous right now anyway. Seems like these all-time highs could break lower suddenly because the lousy economy just doesn't seem to justify this run-up.

Are you all holding AAPL through the Samsung Galaxy S4 release? I got worried and sold all my Apple stock today ahead of tonight's Samsung show at Time Square.

I guess if the S4 flops, that could make AAPL go up instead of down but I opted to sell because it seems like the upside to an S4 flop wouldn't be very big for Apple but the downside to an S4 hit could be devastating. What do you all think?

I had been holding on because I thought that Tim Cook would announce a big dividend or buy-back but the weeks just keep dragging on and they don't seem to be in any hurry to do anything for shareholders. They were in a hurry to give themselves big bonuses on the BOD though. That happened right away at the board meeting.

Brilliant stategy. Tim Cook must be following the same one. Let everyone get so pissed off at APPL that the stock gets hammered down 40%, then do nothing about it for months on end so that we can now have a nice stable stock down in the low 400's instead of an unstable one in the 600's.

I lost 40% of value in my Apple stock. That silly 2.6% dividend is meaningless in comparison.
