  • Berkshire Beyond Buffett: A Lasting Bet- Book Review [View article]
The ownership, fully diluted due to the convertible bond, in USG had already been known. I don't understand why the filing requirement, either.

The Economist is a rag. I've never read anything of value in it. Forbes, however, is the worst.

  • Berkshire Hathaway: The Last Bargain [View article]
Theoretically, yes, but Buffett's succession would put a lid on it. If they are buying in stock at 1.2 they think it's worth more than 1.6. You did a lot of good work but is it comparing "apples and elephants" as Charlie would say? It's a totally different company today.

I would argue that Berkshire should trade at a higher multiple than the historical multiples because the operating businesses are on the books at cost and make up a much larger percentage of the total pie today. When the company was mostly investments, a high multiple of book was strictly a bet on Buffett's abilities.

  • Bristol-Myers Is Almost In The 'Buy Zone' [View article]
Given the history of accounting tricks I'm not sure the PE history is relevant. Also, why is a very expensive melanoma drug deemed a success because it extends life a few months?
