Sold all of my two banks, BMO and BNS. Had good gains in both of them and decided it was time to eliminate bank holdings as an exercise in risk reduction.

Thanks to Mike and all the panelists!! This is very helpful. I spent a couple of hours with my late brother's wife yesterday and I am going to help her move her portfolio from a hyper concentrated (successfully so) one to a more diversified dividend growth portfolio.

Oh, 20 of our 30 companies are on the list, T being the latest addition :). I sold our Canadian banks two days ago and opened a starter position in T, but still have most of the proceeds to reinvest.

There is certainly a lack of focus, and beyond that I have difficulty making a coherent whole out of most of his articles. May just be me, though.

  • Is There A Relationship Between The Dividend Growth Rate And A Stock's Return? [View article]
I can think of several ways to disaggregate the data, which may yield some interesting results. Among these are market cap, sector, grouped years of dividend growth history, and grouped 10 year dividend growth rates.

    I am a bull market genius :).

I took the money I made being an options genius and put it into solid, financially strong dividend growth stocks.

Then I retired, living or pensions and SS, we are. reinvesting all dividends. The portfolio has a 3.8% current yield and dividends are growling at a rate more than double inflation.

To make sure you have diverse holdings, capitalize your SS and pension income the way that Bogle recommends - BAM, there are your fixed income holdings.

  • Are SCHD And NOBL Good Dividend Growth Investments? [View article]
Interesting and timely. I am working with my sis-in-law on her portfolio. It seems to me that one can do about a half point better, yield-wise, by subscribing to M*'s dividend portfolio newsletter and having somw money managed by M*'s Investment services to track those two portfolios, even thought the expenses are higher than SCHD's.

My memory is that, net of expenses, the yield would be close to 3.4%. It is one of the options we will be looking at for part of her investments. My late brother ran a very concentrated portfolio that has worked out well for them over the past few years, but I view the risk as too high.

Probation is not a bad thing :). Mostly means I will pay a little more attention to it - it is not a pre-sale move.

I have held WEC since December, 2012, and have received some very nice dividend increases. Like Mike, I am disappointed with its recent paltry percentage pay hike.

    Its on probation.
